It would be wise to have a concealed weapon in such an environment.
 
Damn right, a classic .45 ACP M1911 would do you some good if you ever get into a scuffle with one of those criminals.
 
Detroit can barely keep the lights on, let alone secure convictions of whom they have already arrested for serious crimes. Anyone really surprised at their crime ratings?

Sorry, but Detroit could use better, safer people than more guns.

I'd suggest a massive resettlement program of Detroit with less violent residents from the world's safest nations:

Clearing out the city of criminals sounds like a better option to me.

The risk is one's own life, but the reward is making detroit better one bullet at a time ;)

Incompetent police will be replaced with competent law abiding citizens in situations as dire as this.

I just hope it's not non-black cops shooting rapists and killers who attack them and are struggling to preserve their own lives.

A suspect can be re-arrested as soon as more magistrates and staff can be hired.

There has to be choices made...do not clog the system right now with minor crime offenders and focus on the serious crime suspects.

Did you ever see the old movie "Escape from New York"?
I wouldn't have a problem with one of the sequels being "Escape from Detroit". Just build a giant fence around the city, put the violent criminals inside the fence, and let them have their own society. Everyone who is decent and law-abiding could relocate to a decent place to live.

Kinda have a fence already by 8 Mile road. Just seems to not be working all that well.
