If lawmakers don’t spend even more money, the tax cuts will grow the economy and result in more revenue coming into government coffers. So they will ultimately result in an increase in revenue just like they have in the past. Should lawmakers not spend that extra money and more it will result in a reduction in the deficit.

This week I had to respond to an email from Pete Hegseth, our Secretary of Defense. The email requested that I provide 5 bullet points about what I accomplished in my DOD civilian job last week.

I found this completely demeaning to everyone who is serving our country. I served this nation for over 20 years in the US Army, retiring as a Master Sergeant and I now work for the Department of Defense. Meanwhile, our Secretary of Defense never commanded a unit greater than a Company, but is serving as Trump and Musk's lap dog.

I realize that this is nothing but political theater, since many Trump supporters literally hate government workers, but the vast majority of government workers work hard and serve this nation, but also need their job to provide for themselves and their families. Pay for government workers is less than 3% of the budget. I really worry about these people, who are affected by this garbage.

Fortunately I don't need the job. I tried the retirement thing, but got bored and went back to work. So, in case anyone reads them, which I doubt, my 5 bullet comments were:

Now you are beginning to understand the reason why none of us want Trump or his fellow racist assholes (many of whom are criminals who hate the government while some are just racist assholes that think they have the right to hurt others) in office.

Actually I looked at the revenue coming into government coffers after Reagan’s tax cuts. You obviously did not. Year two or three (can’t remember as it’s been years) after the tax cuts had revenue exceeding pre tax cut numbers. The sorry bastards spent it and more, giving leftist propagandists the ability to say that the tax cuts increased the deficit. They did nothing of the sort.


More money came in soon after the tax cuts as the economy grew because of the tax cuts. It sparked the growth that led to more money in.

The problem isn’t the being asked to represent your value to an organization. In the public sector I’ve written mid-level administrative reports in compliance with, and achievement of, upper management directives. As an independent contractor/consultant in the private sector I’ve written reports that justify the money paid, and should continue to be paid, to me to achieve my client’s goals.

The problem is when those ‘requests’ have agendas outside those aims.

The problem with Musk’s requests is they have no true hierarchical anchor. A “who the f##k is this guy, he isn’t my boss”, issue. The other problem is it smacks of having a predetermined agenda that has nothing to do with defining an individual mission statement and what’s been done to achieve it. It feels like foundational moves to facilitate an end. In this case the pre-decided, Project 2025 announced, elimination of government regulatory power by gutting the agencies that administrate them.

The problem y'all have is that you keep saying "something is being done", but something being done doesn't mean something good is being done. MAGA is pushing us off the cliff, what's being done is not good nor is it beneficial to America. Why do so many people apparently find it "demeaning" to report on what they did? Pretty much every desk job I've ever had I've had to report on every minute I was at work. 30 minutes doing this, 1.5 hours doing that, etc... I've only ever worked in the private sector.

It could be because they've already reported on what they did to their supervisor (i.e. their direct report), who is in turn responsible in the chain of command. The email from Hegseth (in this case) carries with it an implicit lack of trust that employees are doing their jobs.
