Being astounded when exposed to something one is unfamiliar with or doesn't understand is quite common. It's a statement reflecting the one making it, not whatever he observed that flusters him so much.

You should move to Indiana. The state of Indiana doesn't even require a handgun permit to legally carry, conceal or transport a handgun within the state anymore. And we can kill a deer any we want, AR-15, crossbow you name it.

It's a good way to get them to confront their beliefs.
I went to undergraduate with guys like this.
No understanding of consequences..no understanding of responsibilty..No sense of ethics and integrity..
And I am not talking about guns or hunting.
Just generally.
And what they lacked was all taught to me by a young age because of hunting.

Oh these college kids learned this stuff eventually..often from hard lessons during growing up in college. Sometimes to learn with catastrophic consequences I am afraid.
Because they had had no opportunity to learn these things as a child. Many were raised more by tge television.than reality.

Seriously . What do you think happens here.?
My sons started hunting training when they were six.
Going with me when I took youth hunters 10 years old on their first duck hunts.
If they wanted to go along..they had to understand that this was a " big boy" activity. That they had to pull their own weight. Haul decoys. Help build blinds
Sit quietly and still. Listen and obey dad at all times. The minute they didn't? Meant consequences..like not going again.
My sons are way better men ..as most hunters are better people..for their hunting experiences.

Tell me. By the time you were old enough to drive on your own..
Did your experience driving trucks..( assuming you were properly trained and supervised) make you a better safer driver than the 15 or 16 year olds that got their license with only 2 months of experience driving?

By the way..my kids started driving trucks at age 8. Helping me load hay.
By the time they got to driver's education..they knew a the safety and mechanics of driving and could focus on learning traffic and regulations.

I was not alone by any means. Millions of children are taught about firearms and firearm safety by their parents every year. My father bought me my first firearm on my tenth birthday.

Nope, I could not reach the peddles to drive cross country. I simply steered the truck as it was in creeper, first gear, as my uncles and the help loaded it as we moved up the fields.
Everyone was put to work.
We did not sit silently in the ****in woods waiting to murder some unsuspecting animal.
