Oh wow. Just beautiful.
For the first time the world's most powerful telescope has lifted the blanket of gas and dust covering the Horsehead nebula to reveal the newborn stars buried inside.Using infrared light, NASA's Hubble Space Telescope has provided an incredible view inside part of one of the world's most well-known constellations.
The Horsehead nebula, a dark dust cloud in the shape of a horse’s head, is about 1500 light-years from Earth in the constellation Orion. The nebula is known as a stellar nursery as it is where stars are formed. The photo was released yesterday to mark the 23rd anniversary of the Hubble telescope's launch.
