How/Why Has the Bible Survived? (1 Viewer)

Wrong. God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1).
And Al Gore created the Internet?
There is absolutely no proof of the existence of ANY God(s), only beliefs founded on a multitude of disproved beliefs.

Interestingly, Muslims believe holy books written before the Quaran to be failed interpretations of the Quaran, and feel that some parts of each text are in reflection of Allahs word.

Which means that the Christian God didn't protect the Bible...Allah did.

There is absolutely no secular reason for life to exist. There is no reason for consistency in mathematics. There is no rational reason for serendipity or coincidence without the existence of GOD.

Nor is there any proven/provable reason for God(s) to exist. What can exist, did, does, or will. Early humans created their own Gods, mostly based on the environment and natural events in which they observed without any knowledge of their real cause.

No one thousands of years ago could have made up such a sophisticated GOD: One spirit GOD of a triune nature, eternal, creating everything, needing nothing, and not some city idol manufactured by hand ----- nor belittle the pride of all humanity (both monarchs and common men) so utterly and completely, while demonstrating HIS love at the same time for mankind.

How / Why has the Bible Survived?

The Anvil that has worn out many Hammers

Nineteenth century writer H.L. Hastings once forcibly illustrated the unique way in which the Bible has withstood the attacks of skepticism:

“Infidels of eighteen hundred years have been refuting and overthrowing this book, and yet it stands today as solid as a rock. Its circulation increases, and it is more loved and cherished and read today than ever before. Infidels, with all their assaults, make about as much impression on this book as a man with a tack hammer would on the Pyramids of Egypt.

When the French monarch proposed the persecution of Christians in his dominion, an old statesman and warrior said to him, ‘Sire, the church of God is an anvil that has worn out many hammers.’ So the hammers of infidels have been pecking away at this book for ages, but the hammers are worn out, and the anvil still endures. If this book had not been the book of God, men would have destroyed it long ago. Emperors and popes, kings and priests, princes and rulers have all tried their hand at it; they die and the book still lives.”

No other book has been so chopped, knived, sifted, scrutinized, and vilified. What book on philosophy or religion or psychology or belles lettres of classical or modern times has been subject to such a mass attack as the Bible? With such venom and skepticism? With such thoroughness and erudition? Upon every chapter, line and tenet? The Bible is still loved by millions, and studied by millions.”

Skeptics die, and the Bible lives on!!

The Gospel of John makes a lot more sense than the river of horse manure that you put out daily.
I don't think you have supported this claim with any sort of evidence. You are ,however, using the technique of 'argument from emotive language' , which is resorted to when facts can not be referred to.

There is absolutely no secular reason for life to exist. There is no reason for consistency in mathematics. There is no rational reason for serendipity or coincidence without the existence of GOD.
There is no secular reason for life not to exist. And, math is a tool that is purely metaphsyical in nature.

God(s) like everything in the natural world we live within have evolved over time. Religion however is but an evolving story.

Without mathematics, man could never have built the pyramids, developed the A-bomb nor flown to the moon. If math was random and inconsistent, such would remain an impossibility. Math conceptually represents reality (discovered by man but not invented by him) and not something that isn't founded on infeasibility.

Yes, it's a wonderful tool, but it's a tool ever the less.

Math is a human invention.

The GOD of Genesis is the GOD of Revelation. We are speaking of thousands of years --- that extend to today. Religion is man made and changes. GOD is consistent and doesn't change. GOD's Word is unchanging but entirely historical and consistent.

Math is rather a human discovery existing throughout nature for all time, and reveals GOD in its conceptual perfection. Math doesn't lie. 1 + 1 = 2

Math is abstract and was not discovered in nature. Math doesn't lie only because human beings made it that way.

Yes, about 3,400 years, though the first modern human species, homo sapiens, evolved about 200,000 to 300,000 years ago which would predate Adam and Eve, but the creator(s) of the Bible stories wouldn't have known that.
What you call "God's Word" is simply the words of the writer(s) of the stories, and the Bible is an anthology consisting of many stories written by many persons, though many other stories were not included when man compiled the anthology.
There is some historical fact in some of the stories, along with a great deal of fiction, but the primary intent was to instill belief in a God by the listeners useful for the purpose of controlling them. And even today it still seems to work, though not quite as efficiently with a much more literate audience than what existed a few thousand or even 100 years ago.

If the Bible is from God, we would expect Him to preserve it, would we not? Throughout history, powerful men have tried to destroy the Bible and religious leaders have tried to hide it/keep it from the common people...despite opposition and the threat of death, many people have risked their lives to protect the Bible...William Tyndale is one such man...

The bible survives because some people like reading fiction that makes everything a happy ending.

I realize that the "200,000 to 300,000 years ago" didn't occur but is terrible corruption generated by the ravages of the Deluge that aged this planet, much as abuse ages a human who so indulges in drink, smokes, illicit sex, or experiences a debilitating disease, or an accident would more quickly age and then die at a young age but in fact would appear decades older than their real age --- think Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome but on a material global level.

So you're a 6,000 year old Universe believer?

Nah, not true. That's only what the Christians say. That John person got things all wrong.

Older religious texts than the Bible have survived
