Largest category of homicide is accomplished with handguns.
Assault weapons are the tool of choice for rampage murder.
So it's just a whim.

Of course you would think that! Because you are unable to compare us with DEVELOPED nations. Nations that can police citizens at our level. You have to compare us with a nation in which large portions of the territory are controlled, not by the government, but by drug lords.
But that's all you CAN do to rebut my arguments, right? So.... stick with that! It makes us BOTH happy that you do...
Because people DIE! Especially heartbreaking when they're children who die in their classroom. They die easily because some kid can hops on their bike to the neighborhood gun store and come out with assault weapons and ammunition fit for an army. This WILL happen again no matter what we do. But if we start NOW we can make it more difficult.... and probably save some lives.
And, as your (and everybody else's) LACK of arguments shows, there is NO reason why we shouldn't. And there is NO reason why it wouldn't work.
If your believe that people dying is no concern of yours, then ... that's your answer....
Why not focus on the means? So focus on the reason why they die and not the means.
Suicides are primarily a mental health issue. And I addressed that with my proposals about red flag laws and mental health. But the PRIMARY focus of this thread is assault weapons. I don't know how many people commit suicide with an assault weapon. But I DO know that they kill innocent people with them. So THAT is the main focus of my proposals. We're mostly talking about suicides that's a mental health issue.
"Let"? Do you think they go to the Office and request a Hall Pass?So why does the school just let people waltz in there and blow them away?
AND don't give the shooters easy access to assault weapons. If the shooter has an assault weapon, nothing short of turning every school in the country into Fort Knox would stop them. And, more importantly, WHY would we want to do that when making it as difficult as humanly possible to obtain guns would be more effective? So fortify schools
So every developed nation in the world that HAS implemented these (and much much more) measures is an authoritarian dictatorship? There's no reason we shouldn't become an authoritarian dictatorship?
So you can stroll into the neighborhood guns shop and come out with an assault rifle and 50-round magazines?I can't do anything about it people like you stop me. What I would do to stop school shootings and this would stop them regardless of where they happen have people in the school armed.
Because you can't do anything about itWhy not focus on the means?
And most suicides with firearms are men and boys. Ignoring their problems to print them out authoritarianism is hateful.Suicides are primarily a mental health issue. And I addressed that with my proposals about red flag laws and mental health.
Who's being assaulted? But the PRIMARY focus of this thread is assault weapons.
Anybody who commits assault with say a break for a tire iron and then uses it to the kill themselves.I don't know how many people commit suicide with an assault weapon.
Your proposals have been rejected. Let it go. Think of something better. But I DO know that they kill innocent people with them. So THAT is the main focus of my proposals.
Yes let. They even propped the door open for that uvalde shooter. And also that idiot was stopped with a gun."Let"? Do you think they go to the Office and ask for a Hall Pass?
Again who's being assaulted? No! But the government DOES let them walk into a gun store and buy an assault weapon and loads of ammunition. THAT is the "why" question!
The only way they'd have access to an assault weapon is if they assaulted someone with it and it could be a brick or a tire iron.AND don't give the shooters easy access to assault weapons.
They've already committed assault and you should probably stop them. What better to stop them with than a gun.If the shooter has an assault weapon,
So gold is more valuable than children. Don't plead to me about your emotions when you think for dogs is more important than all of our schools.nothing short of turning every school in the country into Fort Knox would stop them.
You can't.And, more importantly, WHY would we want to do that when making it as difficult as humanly poss ible to obtain guns would be more effective?
You can't.Answer: WHY? Not a rhetorical queston....
Much closer than us yes.So every developed nation in the world that HAS implemented these (and much much more) measures is an authoritarian dictatorship?
Well I've heard people facing criminal charges in these other places for telling jokes or saying things or making posts on the internet that weren't threatening. So you can call it nonsense, it just means you're not trustworthy. What nonsense!
You can't assault people. So you can stroll into the neighborhood guns shop and come out with an assault rifle and 50-round magazines?
Then why aren't they law?Well.... that's up to you. But for anybody who cares more about human life than for their "freedom" to shoot people with assault weapons, my proposals are there.... uncontested.
Why not focus on the means?

"Let"? Do you think they go to the Office and request a Hall Pass?
No! But the government DOES let them walk into a gun store and buy an assault weapon and loads of ammunition. Some of which can basically obliterate the body of a child with aa single bullet. THAT is the "why" question!
AND don't give the shooters easy access to assault weapons. If the shooter has an assault weapon, nothing short of turning every school in the country into Fort Knox would stop them. Well more practically when I told him is because you can't. Guns are here we're not going anywhere. Even after Australia did their confiscation that they lied about and said was a buyback most people still retained their firearms so they're still there.Because they're of such great benefit and are so seldom used in a negative manner.
He's going to pretend that the regulated because of traffic code. It's always the dishonest straw people grasp atThis is easy stuff. Ask yourself why private motor vehicles aren't banned. Or even why they aren't strictly regulated. Because they're so useful, that's why.
As we have already established, there is no such thing.Severely restricting two classes of firearm would go far to reducing firearm violence:
You would have to repeal the 2nd amendment.1. handguns of all types
You would have to repeal the 2nd amendment.2. high capacity, high muzzle energy semi-automatic rifles
You still can’t ban them.Largest category of homicide is accomplished with handguns.
No they aren’t.Assault weapons are the tool of choice for rampage murder.
You won’t be permitted to cherry pick. Sorry.Of course you would think that! Because you are unable to compare us with DEVELOPED nations. Nations that can police citizens at our level. Yeah you don’t get it.Of course you would think that! Because you are unable to compare us with DEVELOPED nations. Nations that can police citizens at our level. You have to compare us with a nation in which large portions of the territory are controlled, not by the government, but by drug lords.

Well that’s the point . I see tons of people with guns . Yet we haven’t had a mass shooting in my community. You look around you and you see people who own guns but don't see how some of those "guns" (addressed in the OP) can be used (because they HAVE been used) to kill people... children in their classroom.
I am VERY authoritarian in respect to saving lives when there is NO reason not to save them.
Gun banners gotta lie.And your lack of response to my proposals indicates that 1
I think if it was just a free-for-all and there was no standard by which to drive you probably wouldn't have transportation and if we did it would probably be absolute bloodbathTraffic codes barely dent the fatality and injuries.
Good pointNow, if vehicles were electro-mechanically prevented from going faster than 25 mph, and NASCAR safety equipment required for all occupants, fatalities could be virtually eliminated and there would be less injuries with many of those less severe.
But it would be inconvenient, and car nuts don't care how many children die for their convenience.
Oh that needs to be banned look at that military hand strap and the tactical handle.Illinois law states modified rifles and shotguns must be at least 26" in OAL length.
Rifle barrels 16 inches and Shotgun 18"

Many different stocks are available.Oh that needs to be banned look at that military hand strap and the tactical handle.
Of course you can. Read the OP!Because you can't do anything about it
Suicide is a problem and only briefly addressed on the OP. But this thread is about assault weapons. Feel free to open a thread if you want to focus on suicides. And most suicides with firearms are men and boys. Ignoring their problems to print them out authoritarianism is hateful.
Not sure what difference that makes. But what really gets you is when it's children. Especially when they're in their classrooms. This happens way to often in this country.Again who's being assaulted?
Can you think of anything you can do with an assault weapon that you can't do with a tire iron? If not then, if we were to follow your logic, we can safely ban assault weapons and nothing will be lost. The only way they'd have access to an assault weapon is if they assaulted someone with it and it could be a brick or a tire iron.
Because the gun industry has politicians of both parties in their deep pockets... And even Supreme Court Justices....Then why aren't they law?
Your argument is to compare the richest nation in the world to an underdeveloped nation. That argument rebuts itself. If you want to see if a high blood pressure pill works to lower blood pressure , you don’t compare too people who are in great shape, eat right etc .
My proposals are not for your community to implement. Not even for your state. They would need to be at a federal level in order for them to work.Well that’s the point . I see tons of people with guns . Yet we haven’t had a mass shooting in my community.
What good would a ban do. So we go from having 500 million firearms most of which are legally owned to 500 million firearms most of which are illegally owned?
It's like banning breathing or jumping on Thursday what's the point other than to be a dictator?
The only way to ban guns is end the Constitution and the concept of rights as a whole.
I do believe that to be the ultimate goal of the democrat party.
No it doesn’t.Your argument is to compare the richest nation in the world to an underdeveloped nation. That argument rebuts itself.
Those have already been addressed and rebutted. And, in any case, it doesn't address ANY of my proposals.
Your proposals have already been shown to not work.So that's TWO reasons why this would be a waste of time. If you want to brag about how great everything is because it's better than.... Mexico... or any underdeveloped nation, open a thread. THIS one is about my proposals.
They would work by making it harder for mass shooters to get their hands on. And, as the OP explains, they won't eliminate ALL gun violence... not even all gun violence with assault weapons... but it will surely make them more difficult than just hopping by the neighborhood gun store, and walking out with an assault weapon and high capacity magazines.. And since some people have pointed out that anything you can do with an assault weapon, you can do just as well with a knife, a rope or... even "a brick or a tire iron", then we have nothing to lose. Just use those.Cripes you can’t even explain HOWthey would work.
I don't know what NONSENSE you're trying to make up now to try to hide your lack of arguments. I have NEVER used the word "polymer" in any of my posts. But the desperation you display by making up crap like this is further evidence that you can't rebut my proposals. You even said that polymer high capacity magazines that are already in the market would “ rust”. .
