How many terms will Ocasio Cortez serve until primaried out of Congress?

How many terms will Ocasio Cortez is primaried out of Congress?

This city is currently suffering one progressive, do what I say, not what I do, 2 day work week mayor. Never again. What kind of mayor targets schools for the gifted, charter schools for the poor, and then hires expensive tutors for his own children? Animal Farm, "some will always be more equal than others."

His latest proposal, "tax robots."

What does any of that have to do with AOC? She is not (yet) mayor.

The "party elite" supported her opposition in her first primary election, she managed to win despite them, not because of them. She wasn't "allowed" to win, she prevailed despite the party elite. I suspect that the DNC is going to desire to reserve most of their resources to defeat Trump, rather than to try to outspend AOC, who already may have a war chest in the millions due to the very unusual situation for a representative of getting campaign contributions from across the country.

Also, if AOC can manage to defeat any primary challengers (and so far none have announced a campaign), she will win this election by a huge margin (again) due to the voting demographics of her district. This means she can spend all of her war chest on the primary if she needs to. She will likely have the largest budget available for a congressional primary campaign in the country, maybe in history.
And so initially, her potential utility went unnoticed. Her victory got their attention. But won't running uncontested constitute something of an empty victory?

The thing to remember is that the party she represents only cares what she can do for them. They're not selfless mentors. The likelihood of her upcoming victory changes nothing, so far as her long-term aspirations are concerned. Once the field is broadened beyond gender and race, she'll find herself beset by future opponents of greater substance, speaking to issues of greater moment. At that point, the paper tiger collapses.

Or maybe it means that she is so formidable, or liked, that no one thought they could beat her.

Absolutely, I agree.

as far as her long term goals of things like the Green New Deal, it's a heck of a lot easier to create and vote on legislation if you are in congress, than if you are not.

Once the field is broadened beyond gender and race, she'll find herself beset by future opponents of greater substance, speaking to issues of greater moment. At that point, the paper tiger collapses.
So our economy and our environment aren't of great substance? What could be greater? She is leading the pack with both of those.

She never will be mayor of NYC, despite touts of ignorant posters here.

Personally, I hope she runs during my lifetime, so I can watch her take a beating at the polls.

It certainly speaks to a lapse on the part of the GOP. Then again, they have the Presidency.

Once the aforementioned boxes she ticks are no longer sufficient to entice a voting base expecting more, she'll be competing on the basis of merit. At that point, it takes no great vision to see she'll expire. Ffs, she won't get anywhere on 'hotness' or dancing on YouTube vids.

Maybe she won't, she seems to be doing very well in national politics so I don't know that she would want to run, but why do you think she won't be?

She's a local politician, not a national politician. Take a good long look at local NYC politics. This is the economic capital of the world. Real money talks.

Few if any, graduate to Manhattan from the outer boroughs, but none in Manhattan survive without outer borough support.

The real politic of NYC is at the social scene of the fundraising for philanthropies. She is not part of that, never will be, and she is not accepted by the ladies. That's what defeated Christine Quinn and stops Melissa Mark-Viverito from running for mayor. Both strong women politicians. Neither who understand the game like long time and beloved radical Bella Abzug who defeated all comers during her tenure and took on the causes of the people, for the people, not her ego. Nor does she have support from any of the long standing democratic clubs, which control city jobs and contracts. BTW, most of those in control ladies come from growing up on the streets of the city together. From poor families that gained success and position without going to fancy schools. They recognize her lack of street smarts, and see her as a phony of privilege. Her base was an ethnic pride advantage, now facing multiple candidates from the same and rising ethnic groups. Especially Asian religious family oriented. Hispanic young families more concerned with schools, libraries and safe streets for their kids rather than national nonsense. Fielding a DA candidate not concerned with drug law enforcement, low end criminality, and releasing more of those arrested with no bail was a nightmare for these people. A huge tactical error among peoples dedicated to small family businesses and who want their children to become professionals.

When you (generically) don't know the local politic, you know nothing.

This is my city.

Ummm...look buddy, I'm sorry, but you gotta stop with this silly Hillary hate. Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were desperately trying to pass Single Payer Health Care all the way back in 1993. Even in 2008, the single biggest difference between Hillary and Obama with respect to pure policy was that Hillary was still advocating Single Payer while Obama didn't think it was feasible. It was only after Obama won(on the strength of votes from a lot of Bernie Bros I might add) that Hillary gave up on Single Payer and threw her support behind the ACA. I love Obama, and I voted for him over Hillary, but if Hillary Clinton had won the 2008 primary over Obama she too would have almost certainly won a huge victory over McCain and had a super majority in the Senate. If that would have happened guess what you'd have today? Single Payer Health Care.

I'm sorry man, but anybody calling Hillary Clinton a corporatist doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

1) After Hillary failed at healthcare, she ceded the argument and accepted donations from her opponents in the healthcare and pharma industries. After which, she was officially bought.

2) Obama won due to Bernie Bros? Huh?

This poll and post are so out of touch that it's almost quaint.

What would a primary challenge look like? A corporate centrist sell-out like Crowley?

Please. Bring the challenge. I so dare the Democrats to try.

The question in the OP is simple for anyone who has English as a 9th language.

“Out of touch”? “Quaint”? ROTFLOL... no, the question was simple and considering her idiocies, a timely one.

I had no problem understanding the OP.

I would like to see you list her idiocies. I suspect the list would be pretty barren.

Costing NYC billions of dollars and being stupid-giddy about it is as big an idiocy as massive as one can perform... and before the cameras to boot!!!

I was praying you'd use that as an example. Now here are the facts:

Turns out AOC was 100% right.

Here's a conservative outlet agreeing with her: AOC Is Right: Amazon Jobs Aren't Worth $3 Billion In Corporate Welfare

Here's another:

Who Needs Amazon HQ2? Not New York Real Estate’s Tech Boom - WSJ

AOC: 1, You: 0.

What else you got?

I may be mistaken, but I am under the impression that hundreds of millions of dollars worth of real estate would have gone from a property tax paying owners to non-property tax paying Amazon. In a city with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country, I scarcely see how that would have benefited the people who already live there. Rent rates would have gone up due to loss of existing rental properties and additional people moving into the area to work at Amazon would have pushed rents even higher. Nice for the property owner who decides to cash out, but terrible for folks who desire to work and live there.

Hopefully as many as her constituents want her to serve.

You know this from your time in NYC? I lived there 21 years. How about you?

By the way, I'm not going to beat people over the head if they get some facts wrong. It happens. But it would be healthy to acknowledge it.

AOC is actually quite educated. The claims in this meme...

...are pretty much spot-on. Conservatives should be wary of calling her an imbecile, much less challenging her publicly.

All my life with exception of time in the service and part of college. I am 70, and I live here now. I am still active in local politics. What some might call a community organizer. :) I put my money where my mouth is, cultivating young candidates I believe will be good for my city, my home, my neighbors, my family.

I am not driven by the canard of ethnicity or economic class. I celebrate the diversity of this great city.

Fair enough

What else you got? ROTFLOL...

Green New Deal... the comical farce of this century.

Another colossal mountain of stupidity.

But let’s back up and study the ignorance of the gift that gives every time she opens her horse mouth. Let’s study her words... her display of massive ignorance in the halls of Congress with NBC:

[FONT=&quot]Her Majesty, The Queen of Stupidity: I think it’s incredible! I mean, it shows that everyday Americans still have the power to organize and fight for their communities, and they can have more say in the country than the richest man in the world. If we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest those $3 billion in our district ourselves if we wanted to. We could hire out more teachers. We can fix our subways. We could put a lot of people to work with that money if we wanted to.

ROTFLOL... GONG!!!!
Wrong... the 3 Billion doesn’t exist to “invest”.

BTW...
Yes... it is corporate welfare... it is the city and state admitting their tax rates are stupid and kill business development, and it is their attempt to correct their errors for those who are big enough.

Your little Communist killed jobs, and local businesses profiting from those jobs.

Cuomo slams Ocasio-Cortez, others, as Amazon ditches New York | Fox News

while 70 percent of New Yorkers supported the company's plans, "a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City."

According to a December Quinnipiac University poll, 57 percent of New York City residents supported Amazon’s arrival in the region, compared to just 26 percent who opposed the deal, Fox Business previously reported.

ROTFLOL... she proves total idiots can get a sheep skin. Boston U should ask for theirs back.

Ms. Science discovers a garbage disposal:

She’s proven toxic to the Leftists. She’s going to be primaried and defeated quickly.

The Democrats can ill afford someone who honestly spills the beans on their whacky ideas.

She is definitely ignorant of what makes America great but so are most all other democrats, especially the ones currently running for president.

Green New Deal... the comical farce of this century.

The Green New Deal is a the outline of a plan. Bernie Sanders put some meat on the bones with regard to numbers, and it turns out that bailing out the climate and environment is less costly than bailing out Wall Street during the 2007 crash. It would create ~20 million jobs, would pay for itself, would vastly reduce never-ending resource wars, and produce a better planet for your children. I know you reflexively hate anything that helps people, but at some point you have to realize that it's not productive.

When are you going to hold conservatives accountable for lying about climate change for the past ~50 years and poisoning the discourse?

And I already fully addressed the AOC saving NYC from Amazon.

God I love that she drives you crazy.

You better get used to it. Lol
