How many people will be at the 8.28 Restoring Honor Rally tomorrow in D.C.?

How many people will be at the Restoring Honor Rally?

  • Total voters
    16
  • Poll closed .

That was yesterday. I'm pretty sure NBC was referring to the permit. The new numbers are coming in a bit lower. Way lower!

But you can keep clinging to that NYT quote from NBC if it makes you feel better.

EDIT: Nothing on NBC News website backing up the NYT. They only mentioned the permit number. Check for yourself.

Or keep clinging to the NYT misquote.

Hey, 87,000 is not a bad number.

No, dear. Anyone with half a brain can look at the aerial picture and tell you that it's more than a measley 87,000.

While the turnout was good, which one would have expected given that Beck has been promoting the gathering for almost a year now, the speech itself wasn't. The “Good Reverend” Beck had no great insights, no new inspiration to share, just rehashing tired out, old clichés about self improvement. I expect that all those Beck followers to be tithing and praying on their knees with the door open from now on!

Guess you've never been to DC.

Look, the numbers will come in and we'll split the difference. But no one is standing behind 300k.

You need U2 and the Boss to get those numbers.

Hey, Bachman got 1K over by the Washington Monument. Of course, that was after the Beck 'Restitching' Event broke up.

Wow, Barb had a lead-in of 87K and could only draw 1K, she's losing it.

Edit: Here's what 200K looks like --

Criticizing me for "disappearing" from the thread, assumes the thread topic and direction has value.

You assume too much.

I "assume" nothing. I watch you do it over and over and over. With me, and anyone else who presents you with reasoned arguments you can't refute or questions you can't answer. And the 912 rally figures thread is an excellent example, entirely germane to this. You did the exact same thing then, too.

lol!

NBC news

And, no, they didn't say that was what the permit says. It says NBC estimated the crowd at almost 300,000. You distrust NBC?

Reasoned Arguments -- again, a (possibly) false assumption.

Jeez! You've been holding on to that 9-12 deal for a long time -- almost a year. Let it go, bud. It wasn't personal.

Tell you what, whatever number you came up with is good enough for me. 6 Million-Billion Patriots!! Feel better?

There were only 200,000 at the inauguration? I heard there was a LOT more than that.

Show me, Mellie, I just search the NBC site and gave you a link.

Show me where NBC news said that.

You calling the New York Times liars?

FYI - FOX NEW Chris Wallace just said "They came by the tens of thousands..." regarding 8/28

11:01 PST - Fox News Sunday.

When talking to Beck, Wallace said: "tens of thousands, perhaps hundred's of thousands..."

Side note: Beck appears to still not know what his event was about. He seems to want to elect God as President.

Reasoned Arguments -- again, a (possibly) false assumption.

It's a reasoned argument or it isn't; there's no opinion involved, nor any assumption.

Jeez! You've been holding on to that 9-12 deal for a long time -- almost a year.

I haven't held on to anything; it's merely an apples-to-apples comparison.

Let it go, bud. It wasn't personal.

And, here you continue with deflection. Has nothing to do with anything.

Tell you what, whatever number you came up with is good enough for me. 6 Million-Billion Patriots!! Feel better?

And that's about as childish a response as I would expect.

Anyway, as I said, you're clinging to the lowest possible number you can find, a number supplied by a single source, and dismissing any other number given by anyone else (even going so far as to say the NYT "misquoted"). Not sure what else I need to illustrate the point; you're proving it beyond a doubt for me.

I don't know where NBC News said it. I guess the NYTimes lies again.

Were there really only 200,000 at Obama's inauguration?

You calling the New York Times liars?

I'm saying show me on the NBC news website where they gave an estimate of the crowd. Maybe it's there. I couldn't find it.

The NYT link you gave didn't have a link -- just referenced the source. In the context of the quote, it still sounds like they're talking about a pre-event estimate. Not any type of official head count that you keep clinging to.

I was on the National Mall this summer, rode a bike from one end to the other, walked up the steps of the Lincoln memorial -- the picture looks like 87,000. It's sparse in areas as you get closer the Washington Monument.

87K is a good number!!

It's a reasoned argument or it isn't; there's no opinion involved, nor any assumption.

Of course, dear. The assumption is that you actually made a reasoned argument. There is attempt. There is fail/succeed. And, sometimes, there is delusion.

I haven't held on to anything; it's merely an apples-to-apples comparison.

That fact that you held on to something that happened almost a year ago... well, I guess I should be flattered.

Advice: Don't let me have free rent in your head.

And, here you continue with deflection. Has nothing to do with anything.

No deflection. Just friendly advice. Don't carry stuff like that around for a year. It's not healthy.

And that's about as childish a response as I would expect.

Listen, if my blowing you off a year ago really bothered you, I'm sorry. I'm trying to tell you, name a number and it's good for me.

Not clinging to anything.

Just posting the first and SECOND reasonable numbers I came across.

When you're ready to break it down and do your analysis, let me know, and I promise I won't blow you off.

Which is a very large crowd. Why people would argue over something like the exact size of the crowd makes no sense to me. It was an impressively large crowd, and I don't think any one is going to deny that, so why get bogged down in anything more?

You're right. No sense in arguing about it.

Of course, dear. The assumption is that you actually made a reasoned argument. There is attempt. There is fail/succeed. And, sometimes, there is delusion.

All this would play so much better for you if had ever availed yourself of the opportunity to show that it wasn't. Oh, well.

This is pretty much all you've got, pretty much ever.

And, it's from the poster boy of being unhealthily obsessed with another human being.

Not clinging to anything.

That's funny; you claimed they were the "final" numbers. But they were, in fact, the first numbers reported.

When you're ready to break it down and do your analysis, let me know, and I promise I won't blow you off.

All you have to do is look at the USA Today chart of how many people fill the Mall area, look at the photos, and do a little geometry and math.

Hazlnut, Harshaw, take the personal stuff elsewhere.

I thought it was a wonderful rally too. The weather was fantastic and there was so much love, faith, hope and charity around, Thousands of people getting together in such a uniting fashion and being glad to be Americans. I really wish I could have been there. Glenn was great! It's something the kids will be telling their kids about someday.

It's something the kids will be telling their kids about someday.

It was an anti-climatic flop.

No one will remember it a year from now.

It will never appear in any history books.

They had no clue what they wanted to say/accomplish and it just became a mish-mash of vague religious notions about restoring something. The audience had to do a lot of filling in the blanks.
