What do you all use to store your knives?

Maybe just the guard that comes with the knife? (If you're lucky enough to have one come with it)

Or maybe one of those drawer inserts?

Dinner knives...in a drawer organizer with the forks and spoons.

Food preparation knives and steak knives...in a wooden block on my counter.

Wooden knife block 🤷‍♀️

ETA: Two ceramic knives in their covers in a drawer with other kitchen utensils. They’re rarely used

Self sharpening knife block.

I keep my various chefs knifes lined up in poly sheaths in a drawer.

I too use the wall mounted magnet, got rid of the knife block to save room on the countertop.
I also like it becasue I can spot the knife I want easily and there is no wear on the cutting edge like there is with a block.

In my ex's back...just kidding. In a wooden block.

I wish I felt compelled to be that organized.

Wooden knife block for the heavy use knives
High cabinet shelf for the sharp chopping knives so that the kiddos don't discover them
Original box for the fancy steak knives. I keep that one out of sight, because they are turbo sharp. I taped a penny to the box because someone told me about the superstition about giving knives as a gift. These were a gift to my wife, but we both use them.

Which one to you have? Do you mind posting a link if you like it?
This is very similar and I did get mine at William Sonoma but mine is a touch wider I think. I got the 18 inch....I have lots of knives!!!

ETA My GF has a metal one, thin bar, very smart looking... but she found it "scratched" her knives which is why I went with wood. It's softer and doesn't mar the knives at all.

I don't like to get fingers cut off when I reach into the drawer, so I use poly sheaths. I have about 8 of them for my various big knives. I don't bother with a sheath for bread knives or paring knives.

Thanks much. Like the idea of the wood

The wood is quite smart in our kitchen given we live in a forest on a lake! Quite rustic. My avatar is a painting of our home.

My husband cut grooves in a leftover piece from our butcher block counter — functions as a type of horizontal knife block, and lives in a kitchen drawer.

I’ve wondered about using magnetic knife holders in earthquake country — how much of a shake would loosen the hold.

I have one of these, and I use both sides. Love it.

And for my steak knives, I have a rack with a wooden top, metal mesh sides, the knives hang down from slots in the top. I dont like the idea of the enclosed butcher blocks, you cant clean out the slots.

I've been thinking more about doing something like this. just dedicating a single drawer to things that slice, dice, etc

sounds a little gimmicky
They are actually quite good and a bit on the expensive side; Henckels is the brand we have, but Wusthof is another well-known brand...both can be found in higher end cutlery stores, and both come with lifetime warranties.
