That's because you don't read my replies!

Post in which you discussed the benefits of a socialist society?

Disjointed babble and foolish accusation ignored.....

What's your opinion of socialism? I did live in a socialist country until thatcher was elected, then we went extreme! Every tax payers asset stolen, sold off, to friends, promises broken, and usury which was illegal, became the norm!

UK banks charged no interest on loans before Thatcher?

Regardless of your rhetoric, you still haven't pointed out any benefit "for humanity".
A collect agreement so child poverty doesn't exist! Education, free university education free, provided you reach minimum acceptable entry levels. Any trade or profession one wants, the ability to train! Housing fit to live in! Social inclusion! Free health services, free at the point of need, regardless of race colour of creed! Free dental treatment, free at the point of need! Statuary pensions. This is what we had, and could readily afford, myself I'm still quite happy to pay tax to ensure every single person, man woman or child, has no need to die for the want of medical treatment. We all have a responsibility to provide the finances to have a secure, stable society, where individuals aspirations are attainable and not restricted by social deprivation.

Yes of course, but I said usury, do you need me to forward you the meaning?
Thatcher encouraged people to buy their homes, when interest rates were 3%, though deregulation of the banks and the revocation of the multiplier, interest rates went to 17.5%! A mortgage £180.00 went to over five hundred pounds a month! Thousands of families list there homes and breadwinner, as Thatcher stated there is no such thing as family!

If it was a natural right the govt would not be involved. Our military was created by the Constitution and Congress. Everybody pays for it, benefits are ethereal not actual in general. Our military is based on socialism.

You have a funny definition of usury.

Margaret Thatcher came into office in early 1979. Be that time rising wages and oil prices were causing a surge in inflation which led to the 17%. Another bump in early 90s (after Thatcher left office) averaged around 15%. .

Your hatred is displaced.

Government/collective ownership of all things is bad. Period.

There is a difference between the concept of socialism and a society determining that some things are best handled through government service and taxation. Leftists believe that anything the people pay for through taxation and government = socialism. Its foolishness.

If that's what you think the definition of Socialism is, go back to school. You make the definition so broad it would encompass virtually every nation on Earth.

There isn't an option to pick allowing for a kinda half socialism/half capitalism answer. The military itself isn't a means of production, it doesn't produce things. However, companies that exist in a capitalist economy do make the things that the military uses. There are certain things like pay scales and such, so there is a point to be made there. You know what comes with it though? You lose a lot of freedoms, so you have to voluntarily do that. You lose a lot of ability to criticize your bosses. Almost everything about your life is controlled, weighed, and measured. You cannot participate in a lot of political activity. They can tell you where to go, what to eat, where to live, ect.

Healthcare can be good or bad. I've seen Soldiers end up with permanent injuries because the healthcare system didn't take them seriously and didn't do proper diagnosis and treatment until it was too late. Conversely, I've had some pretty decent experiences myself, for the most part. Dental in the military is generally pretty good.

Do you want all of that that comes with it or are you just going to try and pick little things out from it and try and ignore the huge drawbacks?

It's not black and white, right or wrong, that's over simplifying, a balance to pacify ones own parochial thinking!
Work out for yourself, if you earn $40,000 a year, and taxation increases by 2% and it stops children going hungry, in your whole nation, would you pay the 2%?
If you saw a dog in the street, it's ribs showing, would you want the owners punished?

The children is represented by the dog, the owner of the dog, represents government!

The problem with your premise is that it never stops. 2%for the poor hungry chirruns. 6% for the roads. 7% for free education from cradle to grave. 26% for 'free' healthcare. 4% for fire dept. 3% for police and ambulance services. 3% for prison care. 8% for prison after care programs. 11% for housing. Now we are up to 60% taxation...but hey...you can still keep $16,000 to pay for your home, your car, your insurance, your own food, your clothes, etc.

Or...wait...we can just not work, go on the government dole, and dump all the costs for our existence onto future generations.

If the definition of socialism that one is using is that whenever a government does something, such as builds a road, raises an army, or anything else, it is socialism, then yes: The United States Military is socialism by that extremely broad definition. If one uses the definition that actual socialists and proponents of socialism use, i.e., an economic and/or political ideology aiming to establish the collective ownership of the means of production within a given society, then it is not.

Because every agrarian nation state from the beginning of antiquity until the present has raised militaries, from feudal societies to modern industrialized societies. King Louis XIV of France raised a major army and established Les Invalides Hospital for wounded war veterans. Would anyone here seriously argue that King Louis XIV was a socialist for having done so?

Hello!!!!!!!!!!! Of course the military is socialism. I have spoken to this for years here.

Every member of the military signs a contract to exchange their expertise and life if needed for a agreed upon time limit in exchange for pay and certain privilege's.

The military is funded through a form of socialism, but saying that it's members are socialistic dependent is just freaking stupid.

So do you believe that whenever a government does anything, that should be referred to as "socialism"?

I think the OP is being a little tongue-in-cheek. Our military doesn't fit the anarcho-socialist-type of socialism you refer to. It is obviously more like the Stalinist-socialism where there never was equality or egalitarianism.

The Right seems to think so... unless it relates to law enforcement or the military. Everything else to them is socialism.

It is, for the most part, a socialist system. The thing is that socialist systems can exist in capitalist societies but capitalist systems are always squeezed out of socialist societies so they always have to operate underground.

I find it as inane as people on the left claiming that socialism is just flowers, bunnies and expanded social safety net.

Fair enough.

It is.

"Socialism Is War and War Is Socialism"

Nevertheless, the case for a smaller government doesn't become a reductio ad asburdum to anarchy. Ultimately its a question of degree. Even Cuba is a mixed economy of sorts, obviously one where the government makes an enormous percentage of the economic decisions.

We usually apply socialism as a term of description to societies and nations, because that's where its supposed to manifest, not in a single organization.

I find it as inane as people on the left claiming that socialism is just flowers, bunnies and expanded social safety net.

I have never seen anyone on either side call socialism "flowers and bunnies."

Maybe you are not rational on this subject which is what causes you to say such a silly thing?

I voted Hunter Biden because nothing else matters at the moment!

I know, even I will be upset when Hunter gets elected as President over Trump, they'll have to powder Trump's butt, change his soiled diaper and send him on his way..."SAD"

really?

they take care of you like you are a helpless puppy in teh military. You are not even allowed to think for yourself. They give you clothes, food, housing, money... It's total socialism. Get real.
