How bad is it California

Do you realise the claim you made ? Living in the "Capitol of the Third World" is paradise ???

I know there are many things that Huntington Beach don't have that L.A. has, gangs, graffiti, homicides, gun shots all night long, political corruption, people who don't speak English, barrios, ghettos and slums, pot holes, armed robberies, dogs being raped on the streets, trash, socialist and radical lunatic liberals.

But what Huntington Beach has and L.A. doesn't are waves and a little more personal freedoms that the rest of those who live north of the Orange Curtain don't have.

If you can't take personal responsibility for your own actions and have a monkey on your back where you have become dependent on government telling you what you can do and not do, Orange County isn't for you unless you want to live in Santa Anna.

But I digress and back to the threads topic.

If you live in Orange County your odds of getting a CCW are a lot better than in the big barrio north of Orange County aka Los Angeles County.
And yes there are a minority of lunatic liberals who live in Orange County, probably north of the 405, most likely in Santa Anna aka Tortilla Flats.
They even have a website !!! -> So who in OC has a CCW Permit?

LOL.....I lived behind the orange curtain and I was able to escape. I couldn't go to the grocery store without getting accosted by the born again evangelicals that felt the uncontrollable need to convert you....the beaches were nice, but the community was waaaaaaaay too whitebread for my tastes. I love living in Los Angeles. A lot more culture, arts, hiking...and entertainment options. Yes....living in Southern California....especially LA is Paradise. I've lived all over, but I CHOOSE to live in Los Angeles. The greatest city in the greatest state around. But I understand why right-wing wackos would hate it here. It is too open-minded and free.

Yep, good old Los Angeles, when government isn't around they loot and pillage and burn their own neighborhoods down. Got to love those open minded Angolenos.

"18?" Doesn't that stand for 'A-H'- Adolf Hitler?
Could be Detroit or the South Bronx by the pictures. Hell, I read that in New Orleans they were shooting at rescue helicopters after Katrina.

18 is 18th Street Gang. It's an illegal alien Latino street gang born in L.A.. It's the largest gang in L.A. and L.A. County. As illegal aliens have spread across America, 18th Street gang also has spread across America.

Another illegal alien gang that was also born on the streets of L.A. is MS-13 ( Mara Salvatrucha Gang) Today MS-13 can be found from coast to coast.

These gangs are also known as "undocumented Democrats." If the Senates Gang of Eight gets Obama's amnesty through Congress all illegal alien gang bangers will be rewarded amnesty and citizenship. Their criminal records will be expunged. I #### you not, read the bill.

LOL.....that's the best you can do? Come up with the riots that occurred two decades ago? Okie Dokie. I guess life behind the orange curtain does that to you. Me?.....I live in a world class city that is recognized as such by people around the world.

You are so full of ****. Gangs are not unique to LA or even a large part of LA. Also, they are not comprised of only illegal aliens, many gang members are US Citizens in fact, the majority are...you need to educate yourself before you make your ridiculous claims. Do they not educate people in Newport beach?

That's the California Democrat Party.

Isn't there a conflict of interest with the SEIU since they took over for the KKK to become the militant arm of the DNC/Democrat Party ?

Given the history, and the results, I'm not so sure there is a conflict of interest...

You live in New York City? If not... I wouldn't talk.

The Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Gang Unit believes that 50 % of all gang members in L.A. Co. are illegal aliens. Then you have the anchor babies gang bangers. Most of the original Latino gangs founded during the 1930's, (White Fence being one of the original) during the era of the pachuco wouldn't allow illegal aliens to join their gangs during the 70's and 80's. So the illegal aliens formed their own gangs. This gave birth to 18th Street gang. In Orange County in Santa Ana the illegal alien was also rejected by the American born Latino of Mexican descent. So the illegal aliens formed the Loapers Gang.

There were no black gangs in California until the late 60's / 70's the first being the Crips founded in Los Angeles.

The riots of 65 (Watts) and 92 (Rodney King) will happen again in L.A. because L.A. is "Obama Country" and any time you have a large segment of the population who are dependent on government and when government fails, those people turn to anarchy when government isn't around to control them. (Look at New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina.) When the big one comes (earthquake) what you saw in 65 and 92 in L.A. will repeat it's self. Most in LE believe if the North Ridge earthquake of 94 epicenter would have been centered 25 miles further to the south, it would have been total anarchy of looting and violence.

Showing your ignorance by bringing up Newport Beach education system when you have the LAUSD where you live, think before you post. The LAUSD is rated academically as one of the worse in America. Lets not forget, the Los Angeles County Jail system is the largest in the country. Almost forgot, 50 % of the working age adult population of Los Angeles County are functional illiterates. A class act city.

Well, I've been following this thread for a few days now.
Aside from making some cogent, irrefutable observations I've remained on the sidelines.
Now, I feel I must come to the defense of some of my fellow Californians.
These posters are suffering from Old Geezer Syndrome, aka Bald-Headed-Old-Fart syndrome.
These hapless victims cannot see any beauty in their state, but, instead, focus relentlessly on the negative.
A victim may gaze out at the spectacular Pacific Coast and lament the lack of oil rigs.
They also seem oddly fixated on having a large enough personal arsenal to fight off the 101st Airborne.
Alas, there is no cure.
A loving spouse can help mitigate the symptoms.
Simple daily banter, such as "Quit sniveling and take out the garbage....mow the lawn....wipe your ass..." can help keep the patient grounded in reality.
Lacking this grounding, a victim may descend into a daily routine of posting relentlessly negative info and wallowing in their own crapulence.
Sad.

And that what it has become, two California's. You have those who can wake up in the morning and see the Pacific Ocean and they forget what's east of them and they think they are living in a "world class city." You have the rich liberal elite and the successful conservatives who live along the coast and as the old California saying use to say, "There's no life east of PCH."

There are a few nice enclaves with in the city limits of Los Angeles, Bel Aire and the Pacific Palisades. That's about it for L.A.

There are some enclaves with in Los Angeles County that are safe, good schools and if it was still the 1950's or 60's, Manhattan Beach, Malibu, the Palos Verdes Peninsula. There are some nice neighborhoods in Redondo Beach, Torrance, El Segundo and Santa Monica but they all have their barrios and crime in those neighborhoods. These are all along the coast.

There are some communities who have like the phoenix have reinvented themselves and turned their run down, crime ridden community in to a upper middle class, low crime community. One was the city of Monrovia and Old Town Pasadena and lets not forget Main Street Santa Monica, which use to be a slum by the 1970's. How did they do it ? By going back to the past. They wanted their communities to look and feel like as if it were the 1920's or 30's. No graffiti !!! No trash, clean streets and little crime. Old Town Pasadena was a great success and it's used as a model by many other communities across America. San Diego's Gas Light District, remember what that neighborhood was like forty years ago ? Ever been to down town City of Orange in Orange County ? One of the few circles left in California. And they have a "world class" college, Chapman University.

Inland there are some upper scale communities with some of the best schools in the state like San Marino, La Canada Flintridge. Even Pasadena, Glendale and Burbank have a few nice neighborhoods. Then I could list more than two dozen cities that are nothing than hell holes.

Any Texas cities on that world class list or are fly over states excluded?

I don't think that anyone would consider a Texas city "world class".....outside of LA, NY and Chicago I'm not sure any other US cities are in the same league. Generally when you think World Class cities...most people think of those three....London, Paris and a few others.

LOL.....leave it to a right-winger to list the few Republican enclaves as the only good areas of Los Angeles...you obviously don't venture out much beyond the orange curtain....and you should probably stay there. Los Angeles isn't for you.

Put up or shut up. Go ahead, list these world class neighborhoods with in the city limits of L.A.

BTW: Bel Aire and the Pacific Palisades are heavily Democrat.

Since guns are the topic of this thread, what is known as the "West Side" of L.A. mostly white liberals has the lowest gun ownership of any neighborhood in California. Probably because almost everyone is a liberal and instead using a gun to defend their family or home they are dependent on government and while some gang banger is raping the libs daughter instead of arming themselves and blowing away the rapist they arm himself with a cell phone and dial 911. Twenty minutes later LAPD shows up and the gang banger shot his wad and is long gone.

Really Houston, Dallas ,Austin , San Antonio you can pick one major city from the tenth largest economy in the world as world class?

world class depends on what you find important. to some of us it means major attractions like museums, art or opera. To some of us it means major business enclaves and industry. To me it means cleanliness, safe streets and lots of productive and intelligent people. Freedom is important too along with honest government. However, to others, it means a libertine attitude towards various sexual activities etc

So what in hell are you doing in LaLa Land ?

Los Angeles isn't that clean of a city.

The streets definitely aren't safe, be it crime or pot holes.

Productive and intelligent people ! :2rofll: They may have more toilet cleaners than any other city in the world. But when over 50 % of the working age residents are functional illiterates, defiantly third world.

>" The Los Angeles Daily News recently lamented the tremendous increase in "functional illiteracy" among the working population of Los Angeles County. In reporting the results of a recent study, it said:

In the Los Angeles region, 53 percent of workers ages 16 and older were deemed functionally illiterate, the study said ... It classified 3.8 million Los Angeles County residents as "low-literate," meaning they could not write a note explaining a billing error, use a bus schedule or locate an intersection on a street map.
"< Illiterate in L.A. by Vox Day

And freedom, you have more freedom outside of Los Angeles County be it property rights to being able to defend and protect yourself, family and property.

One thing I first discovered when I first moved to Orange County was you had more personal freedoms and the judicial system was completely diffrent from Los Angeles County and so was law enforcement. In Orange County if you shoot and kill an intruder in your house, that's about as far as it goes and your not going to spend the night in jail. In L.A. County your going to have the cuffs thrown on you and your going to sit in jail until they determin if it was self defense or not or if the DA wants to press charges.

And there's a little secret in Orange County about carrying a concealed firearm if you don't have a CCW.

Turtledude, do you actualy live in L.A. or one of the subburbs ? If you do live in L.A. which neighborhood do you live in ? Could help determining where you are coming from.

I never said LA was a city I find world class

I went to Ontario three times for world or Olympic shooting trials (same venue as the 84 olympics)

on one of those trips we drove through beverly hills, visited UCLA, and did the Rodeo drive routine

that's my only contact with the place.

Really Houston, Dallas ,Austin , San Antonio you can pick one major city from the tenth largest economy in the world as world class?

Sorry....I'm sure that they are all decent cities....but when you talk about world class.....I don't think any of them would make the list. Sorry.

LOL...."Put up or shut up"...that's pretty strong language coming from someone who doesn't have a clue what they are talking about.....but just to educate you a little....you can start with Los Feliz, Silverlake, Atwater Vhttp://news.yahoo.com/good-news-bad-news-obama-scandal-tinged-polls-150432515.htmllaillage. Add in Larchmont, Hancock Park....even Highland Park is becoming hip and trendy (but that is something that people behind the orange curtain probably wouldn't understand). Then....you have West LA, Marina Del Rey, Playa Del Rey, Playa Vista.....West Hollywood, Century City, Beverly Hills, Beverlywood.....Hollywood Hills.....Studio City, Toluca Lake.....all great areas.....I could go on.....but I think you get the point (but probably not).

Hancock Park ! That where the white beard scratching liberals fled to escape the crime of the growing barrios of Los Angeles. BTW, whats with those white liberal males who live in Hancock Park, don't they like girls ?

Highland Park !!! That's the turf of the Avenues Gang. The same Latino gang that shoots black Americans on the streets of Highland Park only because they are black. Highland Park is one of the barrios of L.A.

Come on, the City of Los Angeles has roughly 470 square miles and you list 6 neighborhoods out of a 114 neighborhoods with in the city of Los Angeles. Basically the rest of L.A. is one big gang invested, crime ridden burrito.
BTW: Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Marina Del Rey are not part of the city Los Angeles.

I noticed how that freedom in L.A. is working out. That the city government has chased out every gun shop with in the city of L.A. that there's only one place left to buy a gun in L.A., Turners Sporting Goods in Reseda. I was shocked some years ago when I heard that the City of L.A. forced the "Pony Express" gun shop out of business. That was the best gun shop in the city of L.A. (Got to keep on the topic)
