And as we all know, Michele Bachmann isn't running for anything...
If ( a big if, but lets run with it) she gets the nomination, she can't run for re-election to Congress. Minnesota law does not permit a person to be a candidate for two offices. So she's not running for re-election (yet), she's got her sights set a little higher.
It is compromise because they include the ceiling raise that Obama wants
Wrong, it is the rightwing setting the standards. they have made clear that they want to avoid raising taxes. That is not compromise. that is a bunch of elitist bullies
She is standing on the principal the tea party ran on. Cut spending that does not include raising the debt ceiling.
And Obama wanted to raise the debt ceiling. He has shown he is willing to compromise
The rightwing has shown no compromise
She is standing on the principal the tea party ran on. Cut spending that does not include raising the debt ceiling.
Wrong look at the gang of 6. The GOP is willing to compromise Obama is not
Then you know nothing about what the house did last night which includes raising the debt ceiling.
Obama does not want what the house passed because that means he would actually have to have a budget which he has not had for 2 years
Wrong. Look at Obama. He is willing to compromise; the gop is not
It is a compromise because it includes spending cuts the gop wants
Cap, cut includes raising the debpt ceiling, for the 5th time, how is that not compromise?
Wrong look at the gang of 6. The GOP is willing to compromise Obama is not
The push for a balanced budget is nothing more than a political ploy (much like this latest proposal) designed to stymie a dem president.
It is not compromise and it isn't just Obama who wants the debt ceiling raised.
It's anyone with a retirement account or who has a vested interest in our economy not collapsing.
Did you not see how the markets shot up yesterday when it appeared that a deal might be happening.
If it doesn't happen, everything will tank.
But go ahead and let everything tank in the name of not raising taxes on Paris Hilton.
Wouldn't that mean that the inability to come up with a deal is the houses fault, and not Obamas'?
Right. Her position is nothing but pandering to the teabaggers in the hope that it will help her win the gop primaries
Right, she's running to her base because she wants to win.
Are you just blind to the fact that Republicans are politicians too?
Wrong. Look at Obama. He is willing to compromise; the gop is not
No it is doing what she said she would. Something Obama and democrats know nothing about
Where is Obama compromising? We have no proposal from Obama or the democrats so where is the compromise?
I know all about what the house did; they created a poltical sideshow for the 2012 elections
Obama does not want what the house passed because the republicans will not compromise.
He has shown he is willing to compromise
The compromise is there they raise the debt ceiling. The democrats have not made a proposal so to say they will compromise is not true if they do not put anything on the table
Are there any tax increases?
I don't see raising the ceiling as a compromise because the repubs are not opposed to it. They want to raise the ceiling just as much as the dems.
The Gang of 6 (actually, I hear it's up to 7 now) is a bi-partisan group. None of the members of it are in the "leadership" (though I'd argue that they're showing more leadership than either Obama or Boehner at this point).
I don't know if I'd trumpet this as the GOP wanting to compromise. You got 4 middle of the road Republicans (also called RINOs when they're inconvenient to the Tea Party) to agree with 3 middle of the road Democrats. None of whom are in the same room as Obama and Boehner while "negotiating."
