Rep. Mark Alford (R-MO) gave cold comfort to federal workers who have been laid off under President Donald Trump by telling them that the loss of their jobs is part of God’s plan.

After taking office last month, Trump named billionaire Republican donor Elon Musk to lead the “Department of Government Efficiency,” which has been laying off scores of workers and freezing spending appropriated by Congress. Musk has claimed the pseudo-agency has “saved” $55 billion, but an analysis by The Washington Post found that this number is wildly inflated.

Musk’s power within the Trump administration and the mass federal layoffs have angered some voters, who have directed their ire at Republican lawmakers at town halls across the country.

On Monday, Alford became the latest lawmaker to get an earful.

“Just because you have a government job doesn’t mean it’s a lifetime appointment like a Supreme Court,” Alford said at a town hall in Belton, Missouri, according to The St. Joseph News-Press. “So I would encourage anyone who finds themselves in this situation to realize that we are going to get this economy turning again. There are jobs available. God has a plan and purpose for your life.”

The line did not go over well with the crowd.

“We don’t want your God!” a woman yelled while another exclaimed, “Our God is Christian!”

Dude's a little tone deaf. Not reading the room.

Good luck to him in his next election.

Hard to believe he said people who lost their jobs were "victors".

"Going to look at a larger venue for next time"

Whatever.

There's going to be one less MAGA in the house in 2026.
ROFL

Say, didn't rather viciously demand that no way Trump would win in 2024? I seem to recall a whole lot of vitriol thrown my way for pointing out that Trump would win this - and that it would be 302-226. Didn't you call me stupid a few dozen times? I seem to recall that.

The Stalinists on this board aren't real good with their predictions.

Well, that’s going to be in the next ad run by whomever his opponent in an upcoming election is.

😂

In fact, that’s an entire campaign.

And you think there are enough federal workers in that town to cinch it for the left?

LOL - Trump won that town with what, over 60%

Well, maybe the DNC can deploy a Rent-a-Mob, but without USAID who is going to pay the agitators?

Tone deaf MAGA **** wit removes his mouth from the taxpayer teat long enough to tell others to "buck up."

He's lucky he got out of there without literal egg on his face. Or maybe it wasn't luck at all, BECAUSE HIS MAJESTY HASN'T KEPT HIS PROMISE AND NO ONE CAN AFFORD EGGS.

MO-4 consists of more than one small suburban town.

"by telling them that the loss of their jobs is part of God’s plan."

This is the blanket answer from Christians to explain the unreasonable and inexplicable and it protects them from confronting the idiocy of their dogma. My extremely religious niece said it was "god's perfect plan" that her sister's husband died 2 yrs after they were married and less than a month after his baby was born.

"He plans for you to be unemployed!"

I hope you don't plan on being a politician for long, bud.

LOL

You of the radical left are always so confident. Rep. Allford is in a heavily Republican district. Your party rolling out the Rent-A-Mob group might not have the impact you hope for.

Trump broke all of you.

Good luck. It's a heavily GOP district with views that differ from the OUTRAGE factory here on MSNBC Debate Politics. A couple of dozen professional protesters (who is paying them with USAID shut down?) making noise doesn't impress anyone other than leftists and their corrupt media.

More feigned outrage. Not a single person on the Left said a word when Biden told miners he displaced to 'learn to code'.

During a rally yesterday, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden spoke to a crowd in Derry, N.H., a town that many miners call home. He acknowledged the economic setbacks and job insecurity that coal miners face these days, and gave them some advice: learn to code.
According to Dave Weigel of the Washington Post, Biden said, “Anybody who can go down 3,000 feet in a mine can sure as hell learn to program as well… Anybody who can throw coal into a furnace can learn how to program, for God’s sake!”
According to Weigel, the comment was met with silence from the audience.

Of course. I'm sure it'll all be fine.

No need for you to pay attention.

We are beginning week 5 and it keeps getting stupider and stupider, where does it end?
