In your opinion, does the House Resolution to honor the slain Charlie Kirk go too far?

Earlier today, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed a resolution to honor Charlie Kirk and denounce Political Violence. (310 For - 58 Against)

Last sentence of resolution:

The House of Representatives calls upon all Americans to reject political violence, recommit to respectful debate, uphold American Values, and respect one another as fellow Americans.

Of course, this Resolution is mostly symbolic, and won't really have any measurable effect on discourse among the left vs the right, but does it go too far? Shouldn't Americans have the right to speak out against those whom they hate without fear of Big Brother looking over their shoulder?

Isn't the Right to Free Speech also the right to disparage those whom a person hates?

I support the denouncement of political violence but given Kirk’s comments on the Civil Rights Act I do not believe he is worthy of honor by the House. Someone like Melissa Hartman would have been a better candidate.

It’s the House of Republicans, guaranteed by SCOTUS apartheid gerrymandering.

The way you die, does not whitewash or purify the way you lived your life. I would have voted for a condemnation of the act of assassination and sent condolences to the family and loved ones
