Homosexual

Who hates gay people?
I would probably start with those who have beaten up gays. Westboro Baptist Church would be a good second choice.

No doubt but they are too small to have any type of significant impact on the culture, at large.

Besides, they hate everybody.

I never had a problem with that.

That's not true, at all. If anything HIV/AIDS gave homosexuals a national platform to promote their agenda. Nobody took homosexuals seriously before the AIDS virus. Afterwards they were victims of this disease and it garnered them a lot of sympathy from the around the world.

Remember the AIDS Quilt? That was 1985.

Doesn't sound like you were a good fit with respect to social issues.
You are wrong

Do some LBGT history

Its a known fact the HIV pandemic and the stigma set gay rights back

Yeah, not dying is on everyone's agenda....wtf?

Yea, thanks. I had someone update me earlier.
I did see it later, but as I am doing some responses at stops (I'm a truck driver) I don't always see the later posts. Feel free to ignore anything I post already addressed. It won't bother me.

Naw, it's cool.

1. Human beings are very insecure about their heterosexuality.

a. Some of them realize that they could go in either direction (for example, in prison).
b. So gay bashing (either verbal or physical) has always been prevalent.
c. Some people feel that their religion teaches them to abhor gay relations.

2. Today, gays are abused in Africa and the Middle East and some Asian countries.

3. Western Europe is now very liberal.

a. England at the end of the 19th century passed an anti-gay law that made any kind of sexual touching between two men a crime. (That's why they put Oscar Wilde in prison for two years.) The law did NOT apply to women because reportedly Queen Victoria did not believe that women could behave in such a manner.

b. In Germany (under Hitler), anti-gay laws were strictly enforced. The law there even prohibited a man from looking at another man in a sexual manner.

4. Here in the States, the police relished their job in entrapping and arresting gays. The Los Angeles Police Department in the 1960s used to brag about how many gays it arrested in parks, bathrooms, movie theaters, and gay bars (where handsome undercover vice cops would hang out). A (now defunct) newspaper in Hollywood (where movies were made) campaigned to chase gays out of the city. The New York Police Department would urge landlords to evict gay tenants.
Thanks for the intersting facts on history...

It really seems as if their is a special revulsion of man in general when it comes to homosexual behaviour...

I did equally not know in LA this happened in the decade of the cultural revolution and general iberalisation of society (60s)

Where young people where so fed up with ancient rules of conduct dictated by bitter, self absorbed moralists...

Actually being gay was never a crime. Homosexual activity was. IOW's as long as you did not engage in homosexual sex, no one could arrest you even if you shouted to the world that you were gay.
How merciful!

So as long as you did not act on your love for your partner, you were fine...

Ok...

Sodomy or oral sex between consenting adults is not wrong. It is a valid form of sexual pleasure. The rest of us who live in the 21st centiry cannot be required to live by your reprsed relgious mythology because we have secular and relgious rights of our own that are equal to yours. Kindly keep your bronze age fan fiction ideals to yourself.
Yes.

Simply yes on all of your post.

And thank you for your succinct and wonderfully phrased retort.

Same could be said for unmarried lovers at one point in history. And while I get where you are coming from, sometimes the details and the nuances are important.

I agree with the nuances of history and ist's manigfold things too...

You are correct about the aversion towards non married lovers...

We as humans have been illiberal for most of our species existance...

I was only repling to the idea that as long as you were gay (but never had sex with your same sex partner) you are fine...

Which is especially insidious...

Hey: you can be gay! Just don't do "it"

That seems to be to be rather insidious...

Reminds me of when Michelle Bachmann was asked back in 2011 why gays couldn't marry and she said they could marry someone of the opposite sex, just like straights.

Deserving of a massive bitch slap for Most Condescending Answer in The History of Existence.

Someone should have asked her about the legal consequences of entering into a contract under false pretenses and/or contract fraud.
