If you like what they're doing then keep them.

It's like firing your most productive salesman for no other reason than he's been with the company for X number of years. And what you're likely to get in his place is someone less productive. As it stands, because of two year terms, members of Congress have to spend about half their time running for office. I'd like to see their terms extended to three or four so that they could focus on the job instead of campaigning.

That's an enormous assumption---that someone who spend a career in politics is bad. And what's the motive to go in the first place if you can't stay for as long as the job needs to be done--which for all practical purposes is a lifetime?

What other job do you go to that say that regardless of performance you're still going to be fired after X number of years?

Experience matters in politics every bit as much as it does in non-governmental life, except that we get to vote on whether someone's doing a good job.
