God, I would love the conversation to open up, and to for it to be a rational discussion.
I was so relieved that it was a top priorty of Obama and his congress to do away with it. :mrgreen:For most pathetic congress in history will actually be the ones who voted for the Iraq war and the Patriot Act (without reading it, and yes I'm aware of Nancy's quote on Obamacare). Giving into popular demand instead of what was right. The patriot act is the single most vicious attack on the constitution. But hey, don't let me get in the way if your partisanship.
Both Democrats and Republicans have screwed your nation down the river.
No, that's a serious misrepresentation. They are having to pay insurance, for when they get it wrong. We pay for a lot of folks who think they won't need insurance, but oops, they were got hurt or ill. Same type of thing brought about mandatory auto insurance.
It is not exactly the same system, and it's biggest problem is that it isn't large enough. But, a universal payer would be a better system. There is just no will for that today. Sadly. But Mass makes a case that it can't be done effectively on the state level (though I think Hawaii did it better).

House may try to pass Senate health-care bill without voting on it - washingtonpost.com
oh, wait, the hammer's not hers anymore...
Reminds me of "the stimulus would've worked if it had been bigger"or
Government scewed up, so their answer to that is MORE government. or
Money isn't improving a student's education, so they need more money.
You assume I don't hold him accountable for it...
I thought the republicans didn't want to work on health care. I thought they wanted the status quo as the well to do are dong just fine. You know, costs will triple in 10 years, more and more of us that pay our premiums will have to pay for those that don't, and more and more employers will have to say you're on your own we can't afford it anymore.
LOL....it was the Republican idea to require people to purchase healthcare that was thrown out. Now we need to return to the public option that we should have gotten in the first place.
so you are you saying the dems have to use GOP ideas and make them worse
Maybe you should try seeing the actual argument. It would help you a lot. :coffeepap

Also, isn't it mostly hospital and doctors who absorb the costs for dead beat patients?
I get it already. You don't want to pay for someone who ooops get's hurt with no insurance.
Why do I get the feeling you don't mind paying for someone who ooops didn't even graduate high school, or ooops got pregnant without the benefit of a father to support the baby?
Also, isn't it mostly hospital and doctors who absorb the costs for dead beat patients? (not sure, just asking) You guys also act like people without insurance don't pay any doctor/hospital bills. I haven't had insurance for about five yrs, yet I go to the doctor. I get tests done. I pay out of pocket. I get a discount because I pay up front and they don't have to deal with insurance co. or the government. Do I want insurance in case something bad happens and I need hospitalized? Hell yes, but I can't afford it. We do need reform for people like me. Reform that lowers the cost. Unfortunately this bill only makes things worse for everybody.
Calling people people you have never met, and know nothing about their situations, dead beat patients, is juvenile... Grow up,

Let me know when you get diagnosed with something like congestive heart failure and a panel of doctors are telling you you need a heart transplant.
Winston, I know your situation, but a HC system that the libs want is going to make people like you even less likely to get a transplant in time. Are you on a waiting list?
I hope you are doing everything you can think of to solve your problem and not waiting around for the government to step in.
I'm already getting government help. I do not think health care is a right nor a privilege. I think it is a necessity. For both the healthy and the ill.
We need affordable heathcare. We don't need a system where the government calls the shots.
I'm going to take a look at the GOP plan again. Hopefully that will be something better than Obamacare. It sure couldn't be any worse.
