This is why making voting a legal requirement is a bad thing.
Not voting is just as valid an opinion as voting.
If none of the parties care about the issues you do why should you be forced to vote for someone you don't like?

Absolutely. As the frogs are wont to say, "ne pas choisir c'est toujours choisir ". Even the act of not chosing is still making a choice

I was gonna mail in my ballot but changed my mind. The only item on ballot I am interested is Rep Mike Garcia. How MAGA he is, I am not sure, but he is Republican and has sent some strong MAGA signals, which is good enough for me. He is battling to fend off one anti MAGA Christy Smith. The last time was close. I will go to the boothe tomorrow so my vote for MAGA Mike Garcia is counted same day. Or so I think

Go MAGA

Remember you are allowed to change your vote in my poll. I strongly recommend doing this if you later voted in the real poll (tomorrow's election) by mail or early in person. That way I can keep an accurate count of how many posters participating in my poll have voted already.

I’m looking forward to seeing the last of Sheriff Alex Villanueva. Since Sheriff is a non-partisan office, Robert Luna may be a Republican, but one who understands limits and accountability. I’d like to say goodbye to L.A. County payouts of $50M to families — three of them — whose members were victims of over aggressive policing during a mental health crisis. One family saw deputies break down a locked bedroom door —while begging them to stop — in order to kill the victim.

I wonder if Villanueva will play the victim card again — he faces prejudice because he’s Puerto Rican. He can’t publicly admit that he’s defied each and every civilian attempt at oversight of the Sheriff’s Department.

I am glad to see someone post about a local nonpartisan candidate after months of virtually everyone just talking about Congress and governor races, even in the Anything 2022 Election thread. Tomorrow I will make sure more people do this for many races down the ballot.

Has he played the racist card before? Is there any indication that would be his reaction to losing tomorrow night?

Thanks for the reminder. I will be voting against Sheriff Alex Villanueva. Its safe to say that just about everyone I know wants him out

Considering the sizable Latino population in Los Angeles County, I thought Villanueva had a lot of nerve claiming victimhood. (I hadn’t heard of his ethnicity before he brought up the subject.) His opponent, and likely winner according to polls, is also Latino.

Who knows how Villanueva will respond to a loss. He was already disappointed by the primary vote; he had expected to be re-elected outright by having more than 50% of the vote. Instead he was forced into a run off election.

Maybe he’ll blame the L.A. County Board if Supervisors who reached the $50M settlement with victims’ families so close to the election.

There is a difference between an official absentee ballot and a no excuse mail in ballots. Not too difficult to get an absentee ballot and apparently not too difficult to get no excuse mail in ballots with very poor security and verification. People able to vote in person have no justification for not doing that with 2 weeks of every voting or election day. Early voting in TX has 12 hours per day the week before the election. IF able but too busy to vote then you don't really care enough about the process to have any credibility.
Well, let's see. I'm hooked to an oxygen machine 24/7, so cannot even leave the house unless it's by ambulance, am too weak to walk more than 40 feet without resting, and only then if I can use walls, doorjambs, counter tops to support my progress, so I think my credibility on reasons why voting by mail is crucial to a large segment of voters is just fine. Signatures on the outside of the ballot are manually verified by comparison to signatures on the voting polls. I've alread listed why others cannot reasonably be expected to vote in person, but you've already ignored them by responding with the above post.

Have a nice day, and please don't forget to vote.

So you get an official absentee ballot, problem solved. Seems you and the rest of the left want to ignore the difference between an official absentee ballot and a no excuse mail in ballot. I have never ignored the reality that absentee ballots are legal, my problem continues to be sending out official ballots to every registered voter in the state of California or sending out no excuse mail in ballots all over the country creating fear for Covid. Voting remains and always has been a private event so how do you assure that and proper chain of custody on the non absentee ballots cast in the last election? No one has explained properly yet why people cannot get to early voting, on election day, or as you have done QUALIFY for an official absentee ballot that you requested? How do you know all those ballots mailed in were requested?

I voted on the first day of early voting, IN PERSON like I have for the past 50 years with the exception of my time in the service, 4 years

I hope you don't have any problems with parking and standing in a long line. It will be a busy day no matter where you are.

I'll be working at the polls for a while tomorrow so I'll get to vote while I'm there before I go on duty.

I love my mail-in (or drop off) ballot, and I have what used to be considered normal working hours. For those with long shifts, overnight shifts, two jobs, working with childcare responsibilities, long commutes, plus other possible impediments that I have left out (crappy available parking, for one), I’m happy that voting will be easier for them.

Luckily for us, we don't need to justify voting by mail to you or anyone else. If our state offers it, there's no reason no to enjoy the convenience, whether absentee or no excuse ballots.

I can see how much you care about the elections by not taking the time to go to the polls. that is what is wrong with liberalism today

Bullshit, 2 weeks of every voting including Saturday, polls open 12 hours per day, stop making excuses.

@Conservative, Can you post a picture of what those 2 ballots look like? Thanks in advance(y)

Wrong. I vote every election. No need to go to the polls when I can sit at my table and vote.
Absolutely and of course you do it privately with no one looking over your shoulder and of course that doesn't happen anywhere else where people get ballots and someone else votes for them. Are liberals truly that naive?

Found those ballot pics yet @Conservative ?

Got my ballot in the mail and hand delivered it at the Court House drop-box that was overseen by a poll worker.

What ballot pictures, they won't let you take pictures in the voting area. Not sure what it is about liberalism that creates your kind of loyalty and belief that everyone is as honest as you want to believe. Too much money involved in politics and it is all about power. The fact that you don't want or support secure elections and in person voting is evident that you really don't care about the process as long as you get what you want, massive central gov't and taxpayers funding your personal responsibility issues. There is NO assurance that mail in ballots are being cast by the registered voter whereas in person voting prevents that from being an issue

Odd, I haven't heard of anyone ever complaining here that someone else voted for them.

If you requested an official absentee ballot and was approved, good for you. Was that the case with all no excuse mail in ballots in 2020? Is there some justification in your world to actually send out unsolicited ballots to every registered voter in the state without cleaning up the voter rolls.
