Well Harvard has some pretty good lawyers that will be taking this case pro bono just to say **** you to the oronge shit gibbon.
...and I expect the Supreme Court will change them back given the specific demands.I saw that.
The democratically elected president has changed the terms.
...and I expect the Supreme Court will change them back given the specific demands.
The $50 B endowment Harvard had is almost exclusively private donations with specific earmarks like scholarships, certain research, building improvements , sports , etc. The University can't spend it in any way other than what was stipulated by the donor. Why is Harvard getting any money in the first place... they are valued at over 50 Billion dollars.
I beleive they will find that the demands go way beyond reasonable demands and basically amount to "extortion". Governments directing/ controlling speech, curriculum, student admissions and hiring practices will be found to be an overreach on academic independence as it should be.Why would they do that?
Harvard has no right to the money.
You can make that argument about 100 or even 1000 different groups that need the money worse than the other. The problem is that any savings accumulated by Trump's cuts go directly to the next massive billionaire and corporate tax cut. The average taxpayer will never see a dime of that money.I know why... the point is that they are an extremely wealthy institution.
These people need that money more.

Did congress approve it? Then yeah they doWhy would they do that?
Harvard has no right to the money.
Did congress approve it? Then yeah they do
Congress decides how to spend it.Not at all.
The law allows the Executive to make those spending decisions.
Oooo another maga ( who probably doesn't live in the us) who doesn't understand how our government functionsI'm sure some radical extremist left wing judge will objectively rule that Harvard is entitled to public funding and Trump has no authority to dictate how that money is spent.
Nope that's not how it works. Congress says x amount goes to here. It goes to there. They approved a lump sum, to be dispersed as the president so decides.
Congress decides how to spend it.
Why not? Don't you want to invest in the future of your country, or don't you care-just so you can make a political point? How about we stand up for the taxpayer instead?
Harvard shouldn't be getting a dime of taxpayer money.
I am very confident a majority will see these "strings" as excessive. We'll soon see.SCOTUS ruled over 40 years (Bob Jones U) that strings could be placed on a private college receiving govt benefits.
Nope that's not how it works. Congress says x amount goes to here. It goes to there.
Why? This might help:Why is Harvard getting any money in the first place... they are valued at over 50 Billion dollars.
The issue isn't the allocation it is withholding of appropriated funds for unconstitutional reasons.Yep.
And here Congress didn't say $x go here. They said the president decides where $× goes.
Within the parameters as directed by Congress.
Why does that upset you, when Harvard produces some of the world's most brilliant minds?I'm sure some radical extremist left wing judge will objectively rule that Harvard is entitled to public funding and Trump has no authority to dictate how that money is spent.
Who says? Why would they do that?
Harvard has no right to the money.
I have a theory but.....Why does that upset you, when Harvard produces some of the world's most brilliant minds?
I think we probably share the same theory...I have a theory but.....
Who says?
The issue isn't the allocation it is withholding of appropriated funds for unconstitutional reasons.
