The reason why may be two-fold. One being the antisemitism movement on campus not be mention the embarrassment named President Gay.

And then we have those who were foolish enough to believe when Biden said he was going to give free college that it also meant Harvard.

  • New Harvard admissions data shows early applications have declined by 17% year-on-year.
  • The applications were due November 1, before Harvard President Claudine Gay testified in Congress.
  • It's the first admissions cycle since the Supreme Court ruled affirmative action was unconstitutional.
  • =======================
  • High school seniors have made 17% fewer early admission applications to Harvard this year, bringing the level of early interest to a four-year low, according to figures released Thursday.

Overall, 692 from a pool of 7,921 applicants were admitted under the Early Action Program, which accepts applications up to November 1, the university said.

Last year, 9,553 early-action applications were submitted.

The drop in applications comes as Harvard has become embroiled in a national row over how US colleges are handling incidents of antisemitism in the wake of Hamas' October 7 attacks on Israel and Israel's subsequent military action in Gaza.

That just shows you that all Harvard appliers are not without faults............but I don't blame them if the think they might be "unsafe" there due to the media's wrong coverage of this issue

Meh............posting a few signs out front will fix it.

Anti-Semites Apply Inside

The pretense that criticizing Israel for mass murdering Palestinian civilians is “anti Semitic” is a throughly dumb one.

No time for your lies Tiger.

Jewish American Harvard students have been harassed long before Oct. 7. and since.

They are Americans...........................not Israelis.

And Israel‘s apologists have attempted to equate criticism of Tel Aviv’s actions with anti Semitism for years.

Which demonstrates the big, blinding problem with such decisions on their part.

So according to you, a non political American Jewish student going just about his/her business on the Harvard campus deserves to to be harrassed?

That is sick.

Way to completely miss the point, which is that Israel’s apologists have made it extremely difficult to determine actual anti Semitism with their efforts to label all criticism of Tel Aviv as such.

This thread is about peaceful American Harvard Jewish students being harassed soley for being Jewish. It's already been proven, acknowledged, and apologized for by Harvard's own president, but here you are making feeble attempts using "extremely difficult" to determine.

Total disconnect Tiger.

This thread is about hysterical accusations of “anti Semitism” which amount to nothing more than glorified tantrums from Israel‘s apologists.

Still waiting on you to name even a single democracy the US saved after 1950 btw.

Because they’re Jews.

It’s acceptable because Jewish Americans.

Same song, different verse.

There could be all sorts of reasons why applications are down, many of which have nothing to do with Israel/Palestine.

Gee, plenty of Jewish Americans have come out against the lie that criticism of Israel for mass murdering Palestinian civilians equates to anti Semitism.

Do you think Palestinians and Arabs haven't been harassed simply for being Arab-looking?

Does that make it OK for Jewish Harvard students to be harrassed because some Jewish people not related to the Harvard incident happen to criticize?

As previously stated....actual harassment and what Israel’s apologists claim are such are two very different things.

And nobody has stated that actual harassment is okay.

The Harvard President already acknowledged what happened.

She admitted it.

She had to apologize for it.

Nope. Not quite.

What happened was a bunch of donors threw a tantrum because she handled her testimony poorly.

The apology was due to her word choice at the testimony.

The decline most likely has to do with the Supreme Court decision declaring affirmative action unconstitutional over the summer. As a result, Harvard did not spend the usual amount of time selectively going out and encouraging prospective applicants from certain populations as it had in the past. Meanwhile, of those that did apply early, 8.74 percent have been accepted, a rise of one percentage point. At the same time, the number of international students applying early rose from 14% to 17%. It is also important to realize that Harvard has traditionally kept a limit on the number of Asians accepted, especially Chinese. Harvard itself admits that if academics were the only factor considered, Asians and Asian-Americans would account for nearly half of all accepted candidates. With testing overseas still ongoing, Spring Festival holiday coming in two months, and the relaxing of prior limits due to the recent Supreme Court decision, a flood of applicants will be seen in the coming weeks. The sky is not falling. Harvard will continue to be the school of choice for top students around the world.
