Hamas releases video of hostages in Gaza City as Israeli military advances

Hamas has released video of two hostages being driven around Gaza. The propaganda move is intended to sway Israeli public opinion on the Gaza takeover.

In the nearly four-minute video, (hostage) Gilboa-Dalal addresses the planned Israeli takeover and occupation of Gaza City as he pleads for the Israeli government to bring him home.

“I heard that you’re going to carry an assault on Gaza City, and this idea is giving me nightmares. What does it mean?” Gilboa-Dalal asks. “It means we’ll die here.”

Hamas has nothing to lose as Israelis don't support them.

What they can gain by this is not support for their cause, but concern for the hostages. Blowing the crap out of Gaza, which is the IDF's MO, will likely also kill the remaining hostages. That will cause great concern among Israelis already protesting their government's indifference to their plight.

They are not doing that though - they are moving through methodically, trying to avoid civilian casualties. If anything, this will strengthen the resolve of the Israelis, and cause them to be more aggressive, in their approach. Especially with regards to rescuing hostages and taking out Hamas 'leadership'.

And it really should affect public sentiment against Hamas.

What are you talking about? If they wanted to blow up the city, they could. They aren't doing that - they are moving in troops. Safer for the people there, but directly exposes the troops to casualties.

They can also be likely dead even before IDF start blowing up Gaza.

The hostages are living a hellish life right now.
They are being tortured.

There is no guarantee for their safety even if there is a ceasefire.
Hamas' can't be trusted to keep its word.


I think - the choice families have to make would be, either to opt to prolong the sufferings of their loved ones (though hopes in negotiations),
or take the chance that their loved ones would be saved, or could die (and take comfort that they suffer no more), when IDF moves to conquer GAZA.
It's a painful choice, no matter what.

Absolutely!

I just think the better play would have been to play on the sentiment - release all hostages and insist that they are peaceful people just trying to join the world stage - not the barbarians they once were. Not to double down on barbaric behavior and prove the Israelis right. Not to mention they just threw away an opportunity to petition for recognition at the UN. Civilized governments do not hold hostages - much less torture them and parade them around on camera and threaten murder.

Just think about it: what will happen to HAMAS if they release all hostages?
Is it hard to imagine that there won't be any more reason for Israel to hold back - especially when they'd warned Gazans to evacuate?
Israel will pound the daylights out of Gaza.
I've said it way back - Israel will flatten Gaza!

Palestinians are sending a delegation to the UN for that purpose - there was just a story about the US denying their visas.

They took hostages in the first place! They don't get 'credit' for releasing them. Noting that they still continue the practice of holding hostages.

And btw, the IDF makes extensive use of human shields, as its own soldiers freely admit

The terrorists embed themselves in the civilian population to use as human shields. They are also a part of the civilian population. It's a tragic situation - but one that the Palestinians created and continue.

Israel uses civilians as human shields, as its own soldiers, once again, freely admitted.

Furthermore, wailing “human shields” is not an excuse for genocide.

Have you seen any pictures of Gaza? This is so laughably wrong. Look at the condition of Gaza, really look at it before spouting nonsense about how careful Israel is being. It looks like there’s been a 20 year bombing campaign. 90% of houses destroyed.

From early in this war, I thought, and said, that Israel had the choice between sacrificing a large number of soldiers in a relatively vain effort to recover hostages, or Systematically blowing every tunnel in Gaza, most practically by flooding them with gasoline and LP and striking a match.

This would have probably killed most hostages, most Hamas, destroyed Hamas arms supplies, and leveled a large part of Gaza's cities, as the tunnels underlay most everything. It would have reduced casualties among non-combatants, shortened the war, and saved Israel a lot of bad world press.

Unfortunately.......Israel will always be given bad press. Most mainstream media are liberals, and most are anti-Jews.

Israel's military prowess isn't something to underestimate.
They know what they're doing.

Hamas uses human shields, and hides their terrorist activities in the civilian population.

Agree - Hamas is focused on genocide, and there's no excuse for it.
