Half of world’s largest lakes, reservoirs losing water: Study

The Fourth National Climate Assement that I quoted from have been thoroughly reviewed.

"NCA4 Volume II was thoroughly reviewed by external experts and the general public, as well as the Federal Government (that is, the NCA4 Federal Steering Committee and several rounds of technical and policy review by the 13 federal agencies of the USGCRP). An expert external peer review of the whole report was performed by an ad hoc committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM).3 Additional information on the development of this assessment can be found in Appendix 1: Report Development Process."
That is not a paper. That is a report by talking heads. I want an actual paper from a science journal.

That report was written and reviewed by leading scientists. The report was also part of the National Climate Assessment program started by Bush senior. So Republican climate deniers funded by the fossil fuel companies have had plenty of opportunities to review the program. So that they couldn't stop that report from being published in 2018 shows how overwhelming the evidence is.

It's called 'water management'. Taking water from lakes and utilizing it for farming and other uses.
Screw the future! I want mine now.

I think you are missing my point. Regardless of what you think, such agencies are beholden to political desire.

That report was published in 2018 then you had a administration that was so pro fossil fuels that a coal lobbyist was appointed head of the EPA.

So that the report was published even with those political desires shows how overwhelming the evidence is.

The forth national climate assessment is flawed across the board, because it starts with the assumption that RCP8.5 is in fact the business as usual scenario. Any predictions resulting from that assumption, are not valid!

The devastating droughts in Europe countinue this summer.

"The study was published after European Union researchers found that Europe experienced its hottest summer ever last year, with the intense drought thought to be the worst the region had seen in at least 500 years.

Researchers at the University of Graz said Europe had been suffering from a severe drought since 2018, with the effects becoming clear last year as receding waters wreaked havoc for food and energy production, while numerous aquatic species lost their habitats."

That report is written by leading scientists and also would have been stopped by climate denying Republicans if the evidence wasn't overwhelming. While you and Lord of Planar have provided no sources of your own to counter that report.

Is this supply or demand?
Rainfall in Europe has not changed much,
Rainfall trends in Europe
  • There is no significant annual trend in precipitation across Europe as a whole.
but the population has increased!

Europe isn't the only region with a water crisis. The Panama Canal is facing record dry conditions and it's now impacting shipping traffic. The Western US got some of their surface water replenished this winter but they will still have a groundwater problem, and the US breadbasket is now facing extreme drought conditions, resulting in the worst wheat output in 60 years. Heat records are being smashed on pretty much every continent. Our climate emergency has arrived, and we're just getting started. The beginning of Northern summer and 2024 will likely be even hotter.

Correct, which is why I point out that climate change itself isn't the underlying problem. Rather, it is a symptom of ecological overshoot, which is the real problem. However, climate destruction is arguably a very severe consequence of overshoot. Habitat destruction and the rapid decline of biodiversity are others. We're basically creating a mass extinction event.

Actually we have a fresh water problem not so much a climate problem. We are using the water resources faster than they replenish!
In the US, part of the solution is to build millions of ponds, across the Great Plains, and other regions. This allows more of the rainfall to get into the aquifers, and increases local rainfall.
We did in the 1930’s and ca do it again.

Another blog.

Bye.

Says nothing about there being a record low rainfall.

Irs simple math. A 5th grader could school you on this. If you have more people using the same amount of water, each person has less water tom use.

Just think. Ten years from now, a normal drought year will be even worse than now as there will be even more people!

Why do you post such stupid articles? Can't you see the clear lies in them? All you are doing is fostering the propaganda. One of these days you might realize your mistakes and regret passing on the activist lies.

Are you denying that the report assumes the RCP8.5 scenario?

First of all the report is not only about projection about future climate change but also shows the devasting effects climate change already have. There those devastating effects have already getting worse since the report was published in 2018.

Also the RCP8.5 scenario is just one of scenario the report look at.

It is also arrogant that you belive that you alone have find "the thing" that refute the entire report. While neither the leading scientists that have wrote the report or the Republican climate deniers and their experts that reviewed the report have discovered it.

The report is about how bad things “could” be, and so the scenario chosen is important!
I’m not the only person saying RCP 8.5 is improbable, the IPCC no longer uses RCP 8.5 ether.

Lake Mead is a reservoir.
Yes, but that doesn’t change the truth about what I said! That 100+ foot white ring is a sign of water mismanagement.

The report clearly states that devasting effects of climate change are already happening.

"The impacts of climate change are already being felt in communities across the country. More frequent and intense extreme weather and climate-related events, as well as changes in average climate conditions, are expected to continue to damage infrastructure, ecosystems, and social systems that provide essential benefits to communities. Future climate change is expected to further disrupt many areas of life, exacerbating existing challenges to prosperity posed by aging and deteriorating infrastructure, stressed ecosystems, and economic inequality. Impacts within and across regions will not be distributed equally. People who are already vulnerable, including lower-income and other marginalized communities, have lower capacity to prepare for and cope with extreme weather and climate-related events and are expected to experience greater impacts. Prioritizing adaptation actions for the most vulnerable populations would contribute to a more equitable future within and across communities. Global action to significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions can substantially reduce climate-related risks and increase opportunities for these populations in the longer term."

There the devasting effects of climate change is already being felt all across the world.

It is only you that falsly claim that report is only based on RCP 8.5.

So when the overview chapter said,
Current trends in annual greenhouse gas emissions, globally, are consistent with RCP8.5.
They just seem ignored that in their predictions?
