Gun sales set record 6th month in row... [W:167]

But all the reasons you just gave were about you having to pay more in price for something. Just interesting since you claimed they might be banned when you can still purchased what you were wanting to buy...

you are setting a new low for not comprehending a point you don't like and completely avoiding the obvious. and your specious insult of gun owners is worthless and only proves that the motivation of the gun restrictionists is not to restrict criminals but to hassle gun owners

Im insulting myself?

Just saying gun sales increase are brought out of pure paranoia... Hell, why do you think the NRA relies so much on fear mongering?

You don't know what you're talking about, it's been people like Feinstein that have promoted the idea of banning "assault weapons" and other semi-automatic weapons, which of course Obama would support. It's absolutely good to be paranoid in this case because we're talking about the inalienable right of self defense that's under attack. I doubt you're a gun owner or much of one as you claimed. Any real Constitutionalist would be appalled at the rhetoric from the left regarding gun control. The Left support draconian measures without any proof they resolve crime issues, their supposed objective.

those who don't study history are doomed to be mocked by those of us who do. The 1994 clinton gun ban and the 1986 Hughes Amendment are two obvious examples of what happens when democrats shut down legal supplies and those who weren't paying attention get raped by massive price increases. I guess to a real gun owner-having to pay 150 dollars for a magazine or seeing legal machine guns become so expensive only the rather rich can afford them is a problem but to faux gun owners-it means nothing and there is no violation of our rights by bans

Our family is about to get their first gun, a little .22 so that we can get rid of all these damn raccoons destroying our rental property.

You might want to look into the new air rifles. Not only will they do the job but are much quieter. However raccoons are out mainly at night and running around at night with any kind of gun could get you in a terrible situation. I would recommend trapping especial in a residential setting or around housing even in the country. However if you are in the country a 22LR is an excellent starter weapon. I have enjoyed target shooting with a 22 more than any other guns I have owned. With that said I think I might graduate to one of these new air rifles. Either way good luck.

Oh propper trash management will usually be more effective than anything else. If you have coons you my get bears next. Not something you may want to face at 6:00am going out for the paper with or without a 22.

Not where I live; there has never been a single case of an accident here and everybody has guns. Not one accident in the last half century.

They are unable to comprehend the difference between responsible and irresponsible gun owners. We have the same problem at work when irresponsible people attempt to use power tools. It is a shame we get lumped in with these clowns statistically.

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you, there hasn't been a single gun accident in this area in at least three generations. And everybody has guns.

Up until the Jewish question became politicized - yes.

ROFLMAO, yeah, right up until there weren't allowed to have guns right about the time they started loading them up on train cars bound for a gas shower. You shot yourself down with this one (pun intended). I am still chuckling.

oh come on-if the jews had guns and had killed some Gestapo assholes, the Nazis really would have been mean to the Jews!!

I was reading the thread and saw Jet's post about the Jews. I thought, okay, I bet I know how this is going to end. I was wrong. It was funnier than I thought it would be.

Are you seriously suggesting that had the Jews had guns that less of them would have been killed? Like Hitler was going to say 'boy, those Jews are tougher then I thought..better leave them alone.'

It would probably be the opposite. One of the problems Hitler had with exterminating the Jews is they had done nothing fundamentally wrong, so he could not openly exterminate them...so the Final Solution was done in relative secret.

If the Jews had started shooting Germans, that would have given Hitler the excuse he needed to call them all terrorists and shoot any one of them that was remotely suspected of being terrorists and then he would have had more public support for shipping them off.

The Jews had ZERO chance at fighting off the Germans even if they were armed to the teeth. If they could have somehow kept the police at bay for a while...the powerful German Army would have easily obliterated them. Plus firing upon them would have given Hitler all the more excuse to treat them horrifically (as it is, he really had none except rampant prejudice).
Having guns (and using them) would probably have cost more Jews their lives. It certainly (imo) would not have lowered the numbers exterminated as it would have given the Nazi's even more public reason to treat them monstrously.

This idea that many gun lovers have that their guns will protect them against the evil state died generations ago. Back then, the state's weapons were relatively limited. Today, they can wipe you out by merely pushing a button.

As I have said many times, if the government wanted you dead today and knew where you are...they WILL kill you...no matter how many guns you have. All they have to do is drop a JDAM (Joint Direct Attack Munition) bomb on your head from 20,000 feet in the sky by a lone fighter-bomber and you would be dead. You would neither see nor hear the plane until the bomb was a few seconds from killing you. Heck, they could just push a button and fly a cruise missile into your kitchen and bye bye.
And all your guns offer you ZERO protection.

Anyone that seriously thinks that having guns will protect you against an 'evil' American state simply has no idea what they are talking about and is living in lala land.

Nope, not saying any of that. Maybe you should to back and read the thread. Oh, maybe you are diverting. I just thought about that. Yeah, you are diverting. It was about Nazis using gun control, not the theoretical use of guns in Naziland. Yep, you missed it.

Thats a bit like saying I know many people around me smoke but I don't know any of them yet who have died of lung cancer so smoking must be OK

Ya we got the cages set up. Once we trap them, we'll shoot them in the cage at point blank and dispose of the body accordingly.

The problem with trappers and other forms of "humane" killing as required by CT law is that we end up paying like 200 dollars per damn raccoon. And there are a lot of damn raccoons! The decision to get a gun was more financial than anything else.

I do have a metal BB gun, but I'm just doubtful if it can kill a raccoon in one or two shots.

Except owning a gun is not inherently dangerous whereas smoking is inherently dangerous.

Dude, there are people here who have gun collections in the 100k plus range. There are people who have literally hundreds of guns; some have so many guns they don't know where they are OR how many they have. There are people who have them built into the walls, concealed in the walls, so that if their home is ever burglarized they'll have immediate access. There are people who keep them under their beds, in the glove compartments of their cars, under the kitchen sink. I've met people who buried them in the garden. There are also rifle and pistol ranges within miles of my house. The gun fire is continuous. True, we have had some that died of lead poisoning from handling ammo. And that ammo can also add an interesting dimension if there's a house fire. But I have never heard of a single local accidental shooting. So cancer is really not an apt analogy is it? Why this frightens people so much is beyond me, but I suspect it's because they have visions of somehow conquering our world. And most of that centers on commandeering the vote. It's politics. And it's a fantasy; it's never going to happen.

I can't imagine ever being so terrified of the outside world that I would convert my home into a pillbox looking out enviously at all those with perhaps better armed pillboxes than mine.

How do people get to be like this ?

Guns were invented to be inherently dangerous cigarettes were not

Idiotic comment alert. guns used properly are not dangerous to the user
