Gun owners push back: a former Marine's letter to Dianne Feinstein - Yahoo! News

As for those that have submitted to concealed carry permits, they are examples of those that would allow Constitutional rights to be rented from the state. Yet they assert that you, the common citizen, may not join them unless, you too, take a class ($100?), pass a test and pay a large CCW permit "applicaton" fee ($140 in Texas). Once that ground is willingly ceded to the state it is like putting toothpaste back into the tube, it came out very easily yet is a devil to put back in. The simple statement "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" should suffice for all as a nationwide CCW permit, it does not say "unless your state changes the law" or "if you pay the state $240" or anything of the sort, in fact, it seems to forbid that very thing. The Marine was right, it is insane to let the servants rule the masters, especially if they are allowed to ignore our Constitution in the process. Until very recently, we had no need for CCW permits, yet now that tiny step has led to all sorts of moronic "infringements", yet all are said to be "minimal", "common sense" and "for the greater good". The gov't may be big, and it may be slow, but it sure is expensive.

go with the marine over a senile power hungry spoiled princess whose third husband bought her a senate seat

Yet did you use your knowledge of guns and Constitutional law to challenge the state or willingly, and humbly, submit to a CCW class, test and fee? If you are not part of the solution then you are part of the problem. Note the current mad rush of the sheeple to secure guns and ammo "Quick! before it is too late!". They knowingly, and willingly, rush to beat the congress critters to the punch, paying whatever is asked, buying the shelves bare, yet will do nothing to stop them. After all, what can we the sheeple do? If we do not properly submit and pay our "rights rent", to the state, to "keep" our Constitutional rights, as asked, then we will be fined or jailed, and thus loose all of our rights.

Pitiful. One of the best reasons to ban guns is that only paranoid nuts like him will insist on keeping them, and then we can arrest them before they harm themselves or others.

gun haters use an incremental approach to ban guns,
an incremental increase in our rights works as well

the paranoid nuts are the people who think banning guns will stop criminals. Most of the gun haters are honest enough to admit that controlling criminals has nothing to do with their agenda.

Why don't you go around and try to collect peoples' guns HOJ

I am actually starting to see the logic in that. It is sort of like drug users. If you are quiet and invisible you would have a high likelihood of keeping your gun. If you are a reactionary jackass they know where to go to seize the guns. The boisterous idiots will get themselves on the wrong side of the law and announce it while the true level headed gun owners will somehow find a way to keep their firearms illegally, but no one will know because they are not stupid about it. Seems like a good way to filter out the stupid to me.

It is completely illogical, and absurd... which explains perfectly why you would endorse the ridiculous notion of enacting laws then pretend to look the other way. God forbid that somebody who has the audacity to speak their mind be able to do so without fear of petty retribution. No, you'd rather have a police state where the insolent who dare to speak out regarding what they perceive as injustices are punished and the good little drones who meekly submit are left alone.

bans guns...would you mean all guns to the public?
I can read it no other way. The source, of course, is factored in.

Have we not seen this exact same sort of logic from them before, recently—that a citizen's legitimate exercise of a Constitutionally-affirmed right is somehow proof that that citizen cannot be trusted with that right?
