There is some debate among Christians over what guns should be used for but I will say this much, Christians cannot really be against guns because guns are used for hunting and the Bible justifies hunting. So therefore since guns do have a Biblical use there really is no Christian argument against guns and the ownership of guns. Now, there are some Christian pacifists who say you should not harm people no matter what but even they will sometimes point out that guns are used for hunting and as such guns should be allowed. I've heard of Christian pacifists who keep guns for hunting although they would never shoot a person no matter what. Now whether or not guns should ever be used against people there is much debate among Christians regarding that but the fact remains that guns are used for hunting so that would kill any Christian argument against private gun ownership since the Bible allows hunting so since guns do have a Biblical use from a Christian standpoint guns should be allowed.

I suppose it boils down to being a personal preference...I am a Christian who has Christian friends who hunt and that is their business...I would no more attempt to enforce my personal preference on them any more than they would on me...I personally detest guns and have none in my house...thank goodness DH feels the same way...that is a decision each household has to make...and should be allowed to make...

Jesus didn't have a firearm, nor the 2nd Amendment ..............

What is it the right is: the 3 G's - Guns, God and anti-Gay? Sorry, I've been making Christmas candy and just sat down to take a break. I'm a Christian liberal and we have guns in the house. Our guns were mostly inherited and we live in the country. I've gone deer hunting with hubby, but I prefer watching and enjoying our neighborhood family of deer. I had no trouble at all loading a 22 pistol and shooting the skunks that were killing my chickens. However, I am pro-gun control and I don't think I'm an anomaly. People in other Western countries own guns, go hunting and their people are fine with that. Sure, they have some shootings, but not mass shootings at schools nearly ever year. And I hate the freaking NRA. Do they own the republicans in the Senate and Congress? I didn't always hate them, but I do now. There, now I've said it.

every 'good' republican is bought & paid for, and we all know they are all good ...............

do you hate the NRA because they help elect politicians who are not liberals or do you hate the NRA for lobbying against gun laws that pretend to be aimed at criminals but are mainly intended to harass honest gun ownership?

the NRA was a huge backer of "project exile" which was a joint DOJ and some local LE agencies (it started in VA IIRC) implemented which involved felons caught possessing firearms were sent to federal court and prosecuted by people I worked with for violating 18 USC 922 (felon in possession of a firearm). This resulted in much tougher sentences in most cases over what the armed mope would have received in state court. One case I ws part of, a guy with three armed robbery convictions saw another mope being chased by the police, unsuccessfully try to throw a pistol over a wall so the Po Po wouldn't find it. The defendant picked up the pistol ran several yards and try to throw it where the police wouldn't find it. They did and a cop he didn't see, saw him do this. The Federal Judge gave the defendant 15 years in federal prison-tough time for a 58 or so year old mope and the judge noted-a year for every second the mope had possession of the firearm

The NRA fully supports such laws and the head of the local NRA affiliated state organization praised this conviction.

so tell us why you hate the NRA

in Luke, Jesus told his followers to sell their cloak & buy a sword but I don't recall the scriptures stating Jesus carried a sword but I could be wrong .............

Yes you are correct. My point still stands however, Jesus obviously encouraged owning weapons

Could it be that Jesus wanted to teach them a lesson...his followers should not use violence, even when they have to face a crowd that has weapons? He did tell Peter to return his sword to its place, for all those who take up the sword will die by the sword...

those who don't have swords will end up doing the bidding of those who do

which is why it is widely said

Free men have guns
slaves do not

......... and, we all know that isn't a quote from Jesus ............

......... and, we all know that isn't a quote from Jesus ............

well not the one who some claim was the son of God. I know a couple guys named Jesus and at least on of them has a CCW license and an NRA membership

I used to know some guys named Jesus back in the 1970s; they were Mexican cartel guys ................. Oaxacan ..........

DC, you can't mention the word gun here without Turtle showing up. And he's convinced all libs want to take his guns away. No I don't care about your guns, Turtle. I'd just like it to be harder for the felons to get them. Are you getting another gun for Christmas, Turtle?

The word gun isn't in the Bible, because they hadn't been invented yet. But, the Bible is quite violent, especially the Old Testament. I don't recall Jesus picking up a weapon. He got violent with money lenders and wasn't happy with rabbis (who were much like lawyers and law makers). He was peace loving, radical, and basically a liberal for his time. That ended up getting him killed. No guns involved there.

we didn't get too many of those in the districts I worked in, a few, I don't think any were named Jesus though

tell us how you make it harder for criminals to get them when a criminal caught with a firearm is subject to years of federal prison time-without harassing honest gun owners.

btw are you going to tell us why you "hate the NRA"

was the defeat of Hillary part of that?

I was in the 'business' in Louisiana; Shreveport ............... and travel then was cheap, especially if you returned with your head still on your shoulders .............

I hate the NRA, because their lobbyists (as you are well aware) practically own republican law makers. And gun laws do help keep guns out of some felon hands. Why are you bringing up Hillary, Turtle? What does she have to do with this thread? I expect better from you.

I would've loved to see Jesus with a firearm considering they weren't invented at the time.

so tell us what laws keep guns out of the hands of people who don't care about the consequences of being convicted of armed robbery, murder, narcotics trafficking and being in possession of firearms s convicted felons?

I'd love to know

Well he could have done this: no guns needed
