Gulf of America. Buy those maps quick.

Count on what? The nauseam? Or the constant whining about how terrible our country was when our Founding Fathers actually owned slaves? And what a racist country we are despite all of the laws against racial discrimination? I guess those outcomes are redundant.
Do laws stop people from committing crimes? Are you trying to say America isn't racist? These things were wrong back then and they are wrong today and making excuses for bad behavior got us to where we are today, with a convicted criminal as president.

Quit your whining.
Millions of people of color are fighting to get into this country you call racist. Why is that? Because they wish to suffer racial discrimination?
And why have more black and Hispanic voters decided to vote for Trump this time? Because the country is racist?
There are racists and bigots in this country. But to say this is a racist country is like saying Trump tells the truth whenever he opens his mouth.

You folks on the right have a real problem with the truth, you call it whining. Let me repeat, America is indeed a racist country, now you prove me wrong. Because others want to come here does not change any facts about racism in America. I know it, you know it.

Surely, in order to convince your skeptical audience, you have examples to show us why we are "A racist country" whatever that means. Racist against whom or which group to what extent? As a Progressive, you are allowed to exaggerate and take liberties when it comes to describing your reality. As a Conservative, I live in a town in the Northwest where I never see racism on display amongst our citizens. Maybe I am blind or I am fortunate to live somewhere where people respect the civil rights of others. Should I move to a Progressive city like Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Oakland, or L.A.,or Chicago before I can witness examples of the kind of racism you are crying about?
Is it systemic racism you are ranting about or is it examples of idiot bigots telling us that not enough racists have died off?

How about we start with trying to kill, diversity, equity and inclusion for openers. The big bad boogeyman of the right. Those three things alone are just killing America, oh the horror of it all. I live in the south and have for over thirty years, I don't see blatant displays either even though I'm surrounded by Confederate flags. Trump and his minions have all but canceled black history month as worthless. Slavery is now something good, it taught slaves trades. Maybe you are blind, maybe you choose not to see outside of your neighborhood but when a black kid gets killed just for being in a white neighborhood by two nuts, to deny racism exists in America is just plain stupid and willfully ignorant.

Like I said, there are racist bigots in any community. Does that make us a 'racist nation'? Why does the country need to acknowledge a black history month? And not an Italian or Chinese or Japanese or German or Jewish or Irish history month? Are they not good enough to recognize?. What makes a black history month important?
Since this is a thread about naming the Gulf of America,, I should state that we need to carve out of month of history lessons for every major ethnic group that made country a great place to live where equality of opportunity defines this country. That would make each month of the year important to our most significant ethnic groups that built our country.
And not focus on where DEI zealots expect all outcomes are supposed to be equal like in grade school sports where everyone gets the same trophy.

Tell me if you would, out of all the nationalities you named, which people as a group were held as slaves in America beside black folks? I see nothing wrong with a black history month. How does it hurt you?

The harm is that the ideal of perfect White History is kind of tarnished if the truth is told.

It’s hard to claim that you are the superior race when the true history of the Tuskegee Airmen is told. The Tulsa Massacre kind of ruins the whole Blacks are violent and Whites are the peaceful law abiding folks.

That’s the problem. It’s hard to feel superior when the truth of your ancestors actions is on display. So we have to bury it. Lots of history is like that.

I was talking to a friend who is a cop just last week about duty and Patriotism. The simplistic view of patriotism falls into two camps. 1) My country is always right. Which is juvenile. ) My country right or wrong. Which is just criminal.

My view, which my friend agreed with. Honesty. Looking at our history and saying yes. We did that. It was wrong and we will never do that again. We were founded to be a more perfect union. But that promise means you are striving generation after generation to be better than you were.

Modern Whites like the sort we are talking about don’t like that. It’s hard. It requires honest self assessment and personal growth. That is too much trouble and too uncomfortable for some people.

So, you're claiming that because people were enslaved over 150 years ago that group of people, who are no longer alive, need to be celebrated with a history month.
For that matter, why don't the Jews, who lost 6 million people in the 20 century, have multiple history months in a row given the number of people enslaved
AND MURDERED IN A HORRIBLE FASHION?
I don't care one way or another who has a history month. I'm not going to watch any program associated with a history month. If I need to find out about the history of a particular ethnic group, I know where to go to get such information. I don't need anyone telling me such history is being celebrated in a given month.

I think you are making you point about blacks perfectly clear in your posts. Is anyone asking you to celebrate black history month, or christmas, ,easter, Hanukkah? You also forgot to mention the millions upon millions of native Americans we also killed off on our quest for manifest destiny, White manifest destiny.

I've never seen so many Democrats this upset by a DEI naming scheme that is now inclusive for all of the Americas.

You're right. And proving my point. There are so many ethnic groups that contributed to our greatness as a nation. I overlooked Native Americans. They should have a history month also. I hope there are enough months in the calendar so that every major ethnic group gets their own history month. Thanks for pointing out my oversight.
I honestly don't know how to celebrate any of those ethnic holidays you mentioned. I could suggest certain types of clothing to match to those events but you would probably think that was white supremacy at work.

Your posts are clear, you don't have to keep repeating yourself.

No piece of information is vital until you are asked about it.
You can always say, "Well, I don't know where the Gulf of America is."
And then someone would think you are not well educated.
How would you feel then?
Someone outside the US and even many Americans would also think you weren’t well educated when you don’t call it the Gulf of Mexico.

Especially when they ask you how calling it the Gulf of America helps with the price of groceries and gas as well as school shootings.

How would you feel then?

Wouldn't it be great if changing the name to Gulf of America could actually lower the prices of eggs and gas as well as reduce the frequency of school shootings?
That sounds like a Trumpian campaign commitment, doesn't it?

Gas locally has gone up by 30 cents a gallon since Trump took office. As near as I can tell the Trans and DEI were keeping the price lower.

Wondering how a name change would lower prices and reduce school shootings...care to elaborate?

It won't. Trump's name change effort is simply a distraction.
It's like a dog owner shouting "Squirrel!!" to redirect his dog.

So...this is actually real.

(It's real but satire, in case you're wondering)

It’s in effect on Google Maps.

I like The Bay of Pigs.

Confirmed on my laptop. Out of curiosity I searched for Mt. Denali - the search engine will pull up Mt. McKinley but on the map itself it reads Denali.

Good grief, the willful acceptance and coddling of Donald's stupidity is accelerating at an exponential pace.

As before, Republicans will trash a healthy economy and the Democrats will need to step in to clean the mess.

But now Democrats will need to step in and fix the map too.

Mexico lost it in a war. Just like the French lost Canada to England.
Just like the Ottoman Empire was lost to the West.
Just like Indian lands were absorbed by the U.S. Government.
Is that hard to accept?
The realities are not hard to accept. The injustices in some of the wars you mentioned are.

On the other hand, what Trump did: a- honors the entire hemisphere; b- is only fair, as so many Mexicans have come to the US - especially the southwest and more so California where I live, that they have changed many of our place names to Spanish.
