It’s simple. You see Republicans and especially Trump Fanboys think they’re way smarter than College Educated people. Remember these were the folks pushing every nutty cure that they could swear by. You remember when we were dumb for listening to Doctors instead of a guy who drove past a Medical School once.

These are the folks who cracked the code on the “Stolen Election”. They saw through the Sandy Hook school shooting to see it was all a conspiracy to hurt Remington Firearms sales.

These people are so smart they don’t need education. Of course that’s one of the reasons they adore Trump. He knows way more than people with the education and experience in the actual field.

Of course that’s why I’m not one of those guys. When I was getting interviewed for the job I have had for nearly a quarter century. The boss asked where I saw myself in five years. I answered that I’d be in the top ten percent. He seemed surprised. Why didn’t I see myself as number one. I said that number one had been doing this for thirty years and there was no way I’d learn enough in five years to challenge him. I didn’t know who this person was, but I was sure there was more than one who qualified.

That was when the boss learned I won’t lie. I’ll tell the truth even if it makes me look bad.

Later I learned the man’s name and ended up becoming friends with him. The fellow who had been doing it for thirty years and was way better than I’d be in five. He retired, and I still don’t think I’m as good as he was.

Interesting. Since the future appears to be Electric Cars. At least according to Elon Musk. That is how he makes his money isn’t it? A future that Trump just canceled. One of those good decisions for the future I suppose.

I’m not sure where the Future is riding on what a body of water is named. I mean it’s been the Gulf of Mexico since the 1600’s and the Conservatives claim to be Traditionalists. But hey. Whatever.

I’m not hoping that disaster happens. I expect it. Because it happens. The oil industry is dangerous. Accidents happen. The folks on Deepwater Horizon didn’t wake up on that fateful day and decide to host one hell of a Bar B Q. Did they cut some corners and make some mistakes? You bet they did. But accidents happen no matter how hard they try to eliminate them.

All I am doing is predicting how the same people puffing out their chests to declare that body of water the Gulf of America will deny any knowledge of that name and object to Press Reports calling it that when an accident does happen.

I’d love to see some good decisions. Sadly I haven’t seen any from Trump so far. I’ve seen a lot of petty and stupid moves. But no smart ones. I’m waiting to see if he manages to pull one out of his hiney by accident.

But you go on thinking some children in twenty years will somehow be better prepared for the world when they identify a body of water as the Gulf of America. I’m sure that will make them a success. Or something.

After Trump made his moronic declaration and signed the order requiring that the Gulf of Mexico be renamed the Gulf of America. I went to Amazon and bought a large map, and a globe, with the Gulf of Mexico on them. It seems it was none too soon.
