Deny This: Guess Who Has the Highest Medical Claim Rejection Rate?
Deny This: Guess Who Has the Highest Medical Claim Rejection Rate? | NewsBusters.org
Doesn't Medicare have a different demographic, consisting of more elderly people? Yes, they are rejected for one more day in the hospital because they actually need to have to go to a nursing home but are waiting for a bed. Yes they are rejected for in-hospital rehab. Yes they are not eligable for an insulin pump under medicare, and elderly have far higher rates of type 2 diabetes.
That's right folks, medicare denies more sick people coverage then every single private insurance company combined. But hay by all means let's crush those evil insurance companies and vest our healthcare in the state. Obama, Reid, Pelosi you are sick ****ing jokes.

Less of a % of the population are covered by medicare than by private insurance companies and yet they have more rejections rates than all private insurance companies combined.
Their denial percentage is comparable to each of those other insurance companies, especially Aetna.
Misrepresentation FTW!
lol um no they deny more people than all of the private insurance companies combined.

They consist of more elderly people, because you can't draw medicare until you're 65. However, those people have been paying into medicare--matched by their employer--their entire working lives. There shouldn't be any reason they're denied treatment. I mean, an individual + his employer will pay literally hundreds of thousands of dollars into that system. Medicare payments are mandated by the government and medicare is going to turn around and deny care? That's BS. I believe that if a person is denied care by medicare, that he should get a refund of every dollar that he ever paid into it and so should his employer(s).
It just goes to show cocked up government run health care really is.
If the numbers in your graph are accurate, there were three times as many claims filed with Medicare as with all of those private insurance companies combined.
You didn't look at the column that showed the percentage of claims denied. Did you?
Did you ever stop to think that maybe this is because Medicare has more sick people?
Also, what does "denied for reasons other than a claim edit" mean?
Do you have any evidence at all to identify WHY they were denied care, and what the circumstances of their claims are? Or are you just jumping to whichever conclusion best fits with your preconceived notions of government health care?
I did. Now perhaps you'd like to explain to us all what exactly that column means, and what conclusion you can draw from it. :2wave:
It doesn't matter why they were denied. The government forced them to pay into the system. There's no excuse for denying a claim.

It means that medicare has the highest percentage of denials. That's what it means...:doh
And did you ever stop to think that even though medicare covers less people than private insurance companies they still deny more people than private insurance companies?
35 million people are covered by medicare whereas 200 million people are covered by private insurance companies and yet more people are still denied coverage by medicare.

And is that because the big evil government is trying to pull the plug on grandma, or some other reason? Please, thrill me with your insight. Perhaps you could even respond to my previous post.

Oh,so it's ok if the Government turns the sick away but not private insurance?
