Hours after a humanitarian group released videos showing border patrol agents kicking over water bottles left for migrants in the Arizona desert, a volunteer for the organization was arrested and charged with harboring undocumented immigrants.

Scott Daniel Warren, 35, a volunteer with the group No More Deaths, faces a federal charge of harboring two people in the country illegally.

Caitlin Deighan, an activist with No More Deaths, stopped short of calling the arrest retaliation but said it looked suspicious that Warren had been charged so soon after the release of the videos.

“We see it as an escalation and criminalization of aid workers,” Deighan said on Monday.

The border patrol did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
William Walker, an attorney for Warren, said his client’s actions were not criminal.
“This is a humanitarian aid worker trying to save lives,” Walker said.

His arrest last week came after border patrol agents conducted surveillance on a building where two immigrants were given food, water, beds and clean clothes, according to federal court records.

No More Deaths last week gave news organizations videos taken between 2010 and 2017, mostly by cameras at its desert camp. In one clip, a border patrol agent kicked over five water jugs meant to supply immigrants. In another, an agent pours gallons of water on the ground.

In 2005, two group volunteers were arrested after they drove three immigrants from a desert location to a Tucson church to get medical attention from a doctor and nurse. The indictment was eventually dismissed by a federal judge.

And I am sorry, but since when has border patrols job required agents to destroy sources of water?

Who has the right to leave plastic containers here and there polluting the countryside. Things deteriorate very slowly in the desert.

Not to mention people expecting it to be there and then it isn’t.

Good. Those ********ers shouldn't be aiding people in trespassing into our country. If they want to give people from other countries drinking water then they are free to do it in those countries,

My question is, how would they know the best places to leave food and water...if they were not aiding and abetting the influx via inside information on the illegal route activity?

I am not surprised that one of them may have been harboring illegals, and it is not retaliation but rather good police work to assume they are part of the smuggling process and so monitor them for illegal activity.

And if they die?

Well that's entirely their choice isn't it? Same if someone wants to commit any crime....

If you chose to rape a woman you increase your risk of dying by someone's gun drastically, if you manage to get caught in the act.... I don't think we should start handing out body armor and white vans to rapists just to decrease their chances of getting shot while raping someone.

Not saying that raping and illegal crossing of the border are equivalent crimes... but the logic is the same, and ridiculous in both cases.

They shouldn't ahve destroyed them, they should have used them to ID the illegal immigrants. Plant a device that would trigger signal as soon as the water containers were moved and then sweep in, arrest and deport. They also should have fingerprinted the water containers and if they could tie the prints to a person, put that person under surveillance in hopes of doing exactly what happened here.

I would charge the group with littering and illegal dumping. I am tired of Arizona being a dumping ground for those who enter illegally.

"The collection and disposal of waste in remote areas along Arizona's 370-mile border with Mexico poses difficult challenges. An estimated more than 2,000 tons of trash is discarded annually in Arizona's borderlands. A variety of federal and state government entities, Native American tribes and private landowners are affected by the problem, and addressing it requires extensive coordination.
The environmental impact caused by illegal immigration, and the trash left behind, is increasingly being found in areas that are more fragile and remote.

There are good reasons that the BP removes these water stations. First, there is significant risk that some groups might sabotage the supplies. Second, groups such as No More Deaths which seek to facilitate illegal immigration actually harm crossers by making them believe that the process is safer than it actually is. Third, cartels specializing in kidnapping target these locations for potential targets.

Illegals are not welcome. It should be considered sedition to help them migrate.

If they didn't want to die of thirst they can stay in their own country.

Good. Make it harder and more dangerous to cross.

And maybe kill a few women and children in the process, oh but I assume you are fine with that, noted.

Always love it when the far right shows their inner selves to the world for all to see, and I bet many of them even dare call themselves Christians, they gonna get a rude awaken on their day of judgement.

I would charge them with sedition because they're abating and invasion. They seek to undermine the u.s. citizens.

It wouldnt be killing. It would be those people committing suicide.

Just like if there is no group to help people in any wilderness isn't killing.

Yeah I'm fine with idiots breaking the law and dying in the process

It isn't hidden. Law's against invading our country are blatant. And supporting such laws is something championed by the right and much of the left.

Regressive globalism is stupidity.

Yeah! The more dead Mexicans at the border the bettter, amirite?

No is prefer they stay in Mexico and not kill themselves. But if they die in the process of committing crimes or murder their children its not really anybody's fault but theirs.

You can try and paint this as evil bad ole Alt right nazis trying to kill people. But the only people that you'll get to agree with you are other regressive globalist.

Illegal immagrants are invaders. They steal their way into our country, they Absolutly aren't welcome and I don't feel the least bit of remorse for that. Appealing to emotion or demonizing are forms of rhetoric that will not work.

We aren't killing them. If there were fortifications that shot them dead for crossing the boarder we wouldn't be killing them. They would be committing suicide.

If they want to be here they can get a ****ing visa and do it legally. Other wise they are enemies of the state. Any attempt to make it easier is sedition.

So, IOW, you support more dead Mexicans at the border.f

You can try and pretend your statements don't support that conclusion, but you'll only be fooling yourself.

No one here is appealing emotion: you support more dead Mexicans at the border.

Ferchrissakes, stand up for your own positions and don't try and rationalize them away. Marxists like you should have more courage of conviction.

Pretty much my opinion also.
I never understood people who support those who enter the US illegally.

No. But if they wish to kill themselves I have no control over that.

Believe what you wish.

You may not be. You are demonizing and presenting strawman fallacies.

lol Marxist? Ha ha ha ha ha sovereignty is not a Marxist view.

How ridiculous.
