Greater Sydney council bans ‘revealing swimwear’ sparking debate about double standards

It would appear the comments are about privately owned pools. If that is the case than the owners have a complete right to set standards of comportment on their property. Same here in the US.

No different than the right of the owner's of this board to set standards of speech and behavior.

Sydney council is not a private entity.

Where I agree that many of my fellow Europeans take that stance, I've seen both assessments and reactions working the other way around as well.

I think they speak Austrian as well.
Well, German actually.

Not so sure whether what's spoken in Australia passes for English but then I'm not so sure 'bout the US in that respect either.

I think all of us descendent countries of Great Britian are people separated by a commom language.

Men too, please.

Certainly some of the specimen one gets to see on the beaches here in summer.

aaaaaaandd, face mask while we're at it.

No it is t but the story seems to reference a pools that are privately owned.

I could be wrong in how I read it but that’s what it seemed.

It is... That's part of the decay within our society.

A woman knows a man will look and think of sexual things. There is no other explanation.
So what?

Like the public airwaves, shouldn’t decency standards at a public beach or pool be the public’s decision, perhaps through a city or town council?
Why?
Should parents have to avoid taking heir kids to a public beach or pool because some guy wants to show off his 9-inch shlong in a rainbow-stripped willy pouch penis thong?

First I've heard of it. Stupid. I don't know anyone who would ever support this and it's certainly not being talked about. Oh well, plenty of other places you can go and wear your thongs if you want to.

Don't forget to swim between the flags and slip, slop, slap!

Not Australia. It's Straya.

Just abbreviate everything and I'll be able to understand you ok!

Many, many (many, many, many, many) years ago I had a Sheila as a girlfriend and I understood her all right, but she found my English to be hilarious. Called me a pommie toff

That wasn't in Australia though, which I sadly never got the chance to visit, but in Hong Kong.

Still, we communicated better than if we'd tried Cantonese

She was the one who told me that Australians spell Egypt as "I, jy, why, pie,. tie".
