Needless to say, one first class mess and the Grand Jury is correct in recommending the shutdown of the Police Department. The county sheriff's department should take over law enforcement responsibilities for Hanceville.

And frankly, we should look into abolishing and consolidating small town police departments nationwide. Many exist only as revenue streams via traffic enforcement. Florida shut down several of these types of operations a few years back, including in the infamous town of Waldo.

Mother Angelica is probably rolling over in her grave. 😄 (She was based in Hanceville.)

Every cop in that department should be off to jail.

An open evidence locker. For ****'s sake.

Eric Kelso is one scary looking dude!

Those cops don't look like BLM, so this must be Lawfare!!

I don't understand how some police services in the US work.
They don't seem to all follow the same rules or have the same level of training which just seems wild to me.

Some don't seem to know even basic laws or when they can and can't arrest or detain people.

In many jurisdictions, it is possible to get hired into law enforcement with ZERO formal qualifications required pre-hire with a minimal certification course required post-hire.

In many counties, elected Sheriffs require ZERO qualifications, either pre or post hire.

That's insane for people who are given the power to take away people's liberty.
