Grand jury recommends Alabama police department be 'immediately abolished'
An Alabama grand jury has recommended that the Hanceville Police Department be "immediately abolished," prosecutors said Wednesday.
Needless to say, one first class mess and the Grand Jury is correct in recommending the shutdown of the Police Department. The county sheriff's department should take over law enforcement responsibilities for Hanceville.
And frankly, we should look into abolishing and consolidating small town police departments nationwide. Many exist only as revenue streams via traffic enforcement. Florida shut down several of these types of operations a few years back, including in the infamous town of Waldo.
Mother Angelica is probably rolling over in her grave.
