A prominent Palestinian activist who helped lead Columbia University’s student encampment movement was arrested on Saturday night by federal immigration authorities who claimed they were acting on a state department order to revoke his green card, according to his attorney.

Mahmoud Khalil was at his university-owned apartment, blocks from the private Ivy League university’s main campus in New York when several Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice) agents entered the building and took him into custody, his attorney, Amy Greer, told the Associated Press.

One of the agents told Greer by phone that they were executing a state department order to revoke Khalil’s student visa. Informed by the attorney that Khalil, who graduated last December, was in the United States as a permanent resident with a green card, the agent said they were revoking that too, according to the lawyer.

...The authorities declined to tell Khalil’s wife, who is eight months pregnant, why he was being detained, Greer said. Khalil has since been transferred to an immigration detention facility in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

...An immigration court can revoke a green card but government departments do not have that power."

Honestly, what's the point, other than to be cruel and corrupt?

I'm positive there's some sort of convoluted argument for why deporting people protesting a different country engaging in the mass slaughter of civilians is ACKSHUALLY "America First!"

An Islamo-Nazi engaged in criminal acts.

Just what the fascist democrats here love.

I'm sure there is some sort of justification for promoting foreign nationals coming here and rioting in favor of Antisemitism and racist hatred. No doubt China would welcome such behavior from foreigners, or Mexico, or France...

Fascists doing fascist stuff.

He won’t be the last.

Are the foreign nationals in the room with us right now?

The administration is sending a clear message that speech it doesn't like will result in consequences, legal or otherwise.
I think that the administration issued the deportation order because of hate-speech issues . . . I could be wrong, but that seems to be the rationale they are using.

They believe that Mahmoud Khalil poses a threat or danger to Jews at the Columbia U. campus, and they believe that Columbia U. should have done something to stop the hate speech.

(I think.)

The Trump admin us committing the criminal act.

Oh?

Deporting foreigners who engage in violence is illegal?

I mean, as long as they are Antisemites.

Don't care for the First Amendment, I see.

ROFL

How weak. Your party tried to revoke the first, but even as the FBI went after Americans who dared oppose groomers on School Boards, any sort of riots against Israel would be fine. Because democrats hate Jews/Israel almost as much as they hate America.

Evidence would help, but the administration cannot legally deport him.

The administration doesn't have the legal authority to deport him.

I see no mention of him committing violence or grooming anyone.

Not saying this list is exhaustive, but I don't see "leading a legal protest" here:

Here is another, which I bet they'll claim #5:

If DHS can barge in, say your visa was revoked, be told you have a green card, say it's revoked too, and then disappear you so that neither your lawyer nor your family can find you, then all the guardrails are gone. There is no policy, practice, or law protecting anyone.

And yet so many Jews continue to support the dems. Go figure.

If there was evidence that he engaged in a pattern of hate speech or verbal threats, engaged in violence, or committed some kind of crime, I could certainly support revoking his green card status. Although the administration would still need to follow the proper legal process.

There is zero doubt in my mind however that if this were a MAGA protestor a very different standard would apply.

This is like magas voting for Trumps wonderful new economy. They are all for it, right up until the point when it is their job that is gone, their business that is being damaged, or their family that can no longer access health care. Trump is only meant to do that to brown people and liberals.

This is a classic case of that old saying. Just replace Jews with Muslims -
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

If he has committed criminal acts, we have laws, police, and courts to deal with that. So why are we arbitrarily cancelling his Green card instead of prosecuting him under the law? At the moment this just stinks of suppressing free speech and ignoring our countries laws.

Well yeah, Hamas is a terrorist group, Are the board Stalinists attempting to lie 10/7 out of existence?

Does anyone have any information about what this guy did that was so offensive to justify attempts to deport him and the manner of his arrest and detention?
