If I were in charge of Ukraine, I would be willing to give up Crimea IF I had an ironclad guarantee that such a cession would end Russian aggression forever. But anyone who knows Putin knows that if he’s allowed to keep ANY part of Ukraine in a “peace” deal, then he’s going to be emboldened to go for the whole megillah at a later date.
