Government shutdown based on a lie: "We are moving to block an estimated 1.4 million illegal aliens from receiving American tax-payer Medicaid"!

I live in a rural agricultural area. Most of the people I know are in the ag sector.

Sorry. By that I meant without any permanent status. So an asylum seeker denied asylum and who doesn’t appeal can be deported. Ditto those granted temporary protected status when that status is ended.

Schumer's circular argument is he wants to eliminate the part of the BBB that prevents Federal money going for Illegal Immigrant healthcare because Federal money doesn't go to illegal immigrant healthcare anyway.

I’ve read all that before and it’s built on clever wordplay that avoids relevant facts.

Your party wants to reverse the Medicaid cuts in the bbb. They’ve said that and patty Murray said they do. The Medicaid cuts in the bbb were for ineligible recipients like illegal immigrants and those capable of working.
If federal dollars aren’t being used for illegal immigrant healthcare your party would have had no need to stage the shutdown to prevent what they say hadn’t been happening.
Also … remember that part of the bbb to penalize states that use federal dollars for that purpose? I showed you that earlier.
That’s another thing they/you say doesn’t happen. That again means they shut down the government to prevent what they/you say doesn’t happen.

What is the fiscal logic behind attempts (I assume this hasn’t gone into effect as yet) of eliminating Medicaid benefits for those capable of working? How is it to be determined that people are capable, that there are jobs available they are qualified to do, and how will the government monitor their efforts at applying for those jobs? Seems to me that would cost more than simply providing the benefits to people based on income and/or their finances while having eligibility workers advise them on job seeking.

Illegals can't get SSNs which are needed to go on W-2s. But yeah I'm sure the employers just send the tax money to the government and then don't report it. :ROFLMAO: Same with the border-jumping illegals!

I think there might be enough legal workers to do farm work if wages were increased substantially, and farm workers were afforded the same benefits and protections other workers are.

A couple of things.

First, where would they come from? We are at full employment. People would have to leave their current jobs, to go take brutally hard farm labor jobs, and then who would take the jobs they left?

Its not like there is a huge pool of unemployed Americans sitting around wishing those farm labor jobs paod a little better. They already have jobs.

Also., if you were to raise the wages to such a level that Americans were willing to leave their jobs in the AC to do hard labor in tne hot sun, you would dtive the price of most of the ag products so high that they would be un-sellable, no longer economocally viable.

You have no idea how it works.

Many illegals have an ITIN, or use a fake social. The farmer still pays the taxes.

when someone believes everything a DNC member tells them. the reason illegals do the work is due to the slave pay to do it. I am american and want only americans in my country unless a visa is issued to an incoming immigrant leglally.

I live in a rural ag area. Our entire economy is ag. The DNC has nothing to do with it. THe US economy needs their labor. We have a huge "help wanted" sign up at the border and our legal immigration system doesnt allow most of the labor our economy needs to come legally..

That is on us.

Common sense......fix the immigration system so that the labor our economy needs can come legally.

They issue visas to about 10% of the labor the US economy needs. The rest are still needed but cant come legally.

That is on us. The legal immigration system needs to be fixed to meet the needs of our economy.

You should really learn about the issue before you take such a strong position.
