I absolutely agree that The governor of Texas should make decisions and orders for the citizens of Texas not to affect national politics.

Nice try, but total failure. Governor of Texas is acting for the people of Texas; Newsom has made it clear he goal is to hamper Texas.
California is already uber-Democrat from previous gerrymandering. There's been no effort to redraw electoral maps FROM the people -just ego-driven pontification from Newsom and the gang.

I've also heard that significant conservative groups are drafting suits and injunctions to block Newsom's efforts.

For better or worst the gauntlet seems to have been picked up. Newsome took it the next step. A ballot initiative to ask the voters of California if they want to redistrict their state for the 2026 election to create more Democratic seats. Newsome has called on ALL the blue states to do the same.

The NJ split is 9 Democrats and 3 Republicans. If Trention got creative with its redistricting before 2026 the split could be 11 Democrats and 1 Republican sent to the 2026 House.

I'd imagine if all the Blue states and Red states all went nuts they would pretty much negate each others efforts and we'd be somewhere close to where we started.
