GOP Senator Introduces Bill to Make All Porn a Federal Crime, Following Project 2025 Playbook

Again the far left proving they are the exact same as the far right.
Don’t falsely equate two sides. That is just ignoring how the one side (the far right) wants to oppress 3/4 of the world (the best of the worst case scenario) and how the left wants to combat it by not treating the far right as a legitimate political position to be listened to or respected since its actually a danger to the rest of the world.

People will find a way to consume porn regardless. Just like prohibition era with alcohol and now illicit drugs. The only difference is the industry will move underground and more exploitation will likely happen.

Well, we all remember the fired school principal in Florida who allowed an art lesson to include the Michelangelo masterpiece 'David' for sixth graders because a parent declared the statue to be 'obscene.'

Those renaissance artists were all a bunch of pervs.

This will never pass, half of US Righties would end up in jail.

Unless the bill deems that porn with farm animals is exempt.

Dang, they'll have to ban tight jeans on guys. OK, equal treatment under the law, on women too

Hahahah well, it's estimated that women think about sex about 18 times a day and men think about it 24 times a day (frequency differs with each study) so we'll have to wear thought helmets that register how many times it happens whenever they decide what "excessive" means.

Laughing out loud. What a panic driven lot rushing to lay this at the feet of the super MAGAs. Mike Lee appears to be an old time staunch conservative and fundamentalist. For those who have not bothered to search for his proposed national definition, here it is:

The Interstate Obscenity Definition Act (IODA):
  • Defines “obscenity” within the Communications Act of 1934 as content that:
    • taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest in nudity, sex, or excretion,
    • depicts, describes or represents actual or simulated sexual acts with the objective intent to arouse, titillate, or gratify the sexual desires of a person, and,
    • taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value.
  • Strengthens the existing general prohibition on obscenity in the Communications Act (47 U.S.C 223(a)) by removing the “intent” requirement that only prohibits the transmission of obscenity for the purposes abusing, threatening, or harassing a person.
The three term Senator's justification might be read in his press release at Lee Bill Establishes Obscenity Definition Across States. At least in this Congress, my opinion is the bill will properly go nowhere but into file 13.

A while ago I thought that cell phones jammed into women’s jeans back pockets was sort of attractive. Then I searched, and naturally found several pics on line. Izzat porn?

It just occurred to me that if such a bill were to pass, teenage boys would be incarcerated at the onset of puberty.

Sounds like you should hide those pics

Again the far left proving they are the exact same as the far right.
The right: we must ban the books to brainwash everyone so they obey our police state, you peasants must serve the billionaires!

The left: whoa these guys are pretty bad, we need to stop them

You: they’re exactly the same!

That you think lying about what the far left poster as well as numerous others are saying is an effective argument just shows how divorced you are from reality. But then that is nothing new for you.

It may hurt your feelings but fascists who ban books, intimidate the media, intimidate the courts, who use violence to oppress the people for the sake of billionaires, are genuinely bad people.

Opposing those fascists is not the same thing as being a fascist. No matter how ignorant you may choose to be to spare your own feelings, you cannot change that fact.

It is all fun and games, until we are lining up in hoodies near some back alley for Girls Gone Wild Summer of 1998.

I'm not ashamed to say I've been on Pornhub and because I am a Texas resident it is no longer available. Following is the message TX residents receive. It's coming, folks! (No pun intended.)

Dear user,

As you may know, your elected officials in Texas are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website.
Not only does this impinge on the rights of adults to access protected speech, it fails strict scrutiny by employing the least effective and yet also most restrictive means of accomplishing Texas’s stated purpose of allegedly protecting minors.
While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, providing identification every time you want to visit an adult platform is not an effective solution for protecting users online, and in fact, will put minors and your privacy at risk.
Attempting to mandate age verification without any means to enforce at scale gives platforms the choice to comply or not, leaving hundreds of thousands of websites open and accessible.
As we've seen in other states, such bills have failed to protect minors, by driving users from those few websites which comply, to the hundreds of thousands of websites with far fewer safety measures in place, which do not comply. Very few sites are able to compare to the robust Trust and Safety measures we currently have in place. To protect minors and user privacy, any legislation must be enforced against all platforms offering adult content.
Unfortunately, the Texas law for age verification is ineffective, haphazard, and dangerous. Not only will it not actually protect children, but it will also inevitably reduce content creators’ ability to post and distribute legal adult content and directly impact their ability to share the artistic messages they want to convey with it.
The safety of our users is one of our biggest concerns. We believe that the only effective solution for protecting minors and adults alike is to verify users’ age on their device and to either deny or allow access to age-restricted materials and websites based on that verification.
We call on all adult sites to comply with the law. Until the real solution is offered, we have made the difficult decision to completely disable access to our website in Texas. In doing so, we are complying with the law, as we always do, but hope that governments around the world will implement laws that actually protect the safety and security of users.
We encourage you to:
  1. Learn more about device-based age verification* solutions that make the internet safer while also respecting your privacy.
  2. Contact your representatives and demand device-based verification solutions that make the internet safer while also respecting your privacy.

*Device-Based Age Verification refers to any approach to age verification where the personal information that is used to verify the user’s age is either shared in-person at an authorized retailer, inputted locally into the user’s device, or stored on a network controlled by the device manufacturer or the supplier of the device’s operating system. Whether through pre-installed content blocking and filtering software, the disabling of web-browsing permissions, or other means, the user will then be prevented from accessing age-restricted content over the internet unless they are age-verified. To come to fruition, such an approach requires the cooperation of manufacturers and operating-system providers.

Reinaert is 100% correct.

The Republican Party is a fascist political party, and they will subvert democracy every chance they get.

I believe they will try to steal or cancel future elections if they can get away with it, to the extent they will simply suspend all elections using force or the threat of force.

The idea they floated to suspend habeas corpus is a good example of their intent.

And the tech oligarchy and the Project 2025 whackos who now surround Trump does not care about democracy, and they will have no qualms seeing it destroyed.

Like it or not, porn is protected by the constitution. Not specifically, but generally, under free speech. Federal laws against porn will be challenged in court and will likely be deemed unconstitutional.

Right wingers are very confused. They are for states rights except when they are not. Damn the constitution, full speed ahead when they pretend to be moral paragons in their thin disguise of protectors of children.

That you think lying about what the far left poster as well as numerous others are saying is an effective argument just shows how divorced you are from reality. But then that is nothing new for you.

Do you support ignoring the due process rights of illegal immigrants?

Do you support suspending habeas corpus?

Do you support Trump and DOGE violating the Constitution by trying to take away Congress’s power of the purse?

Do you support Trump running for a third term in violation of the Constitution?

If you support these things then you do not believe in the Constitution, and you just might be a fascist.
