Well...well....well--what do we have here? I really hope these republican tactics will come back and bite them in the butt. They are this scared, so they are going to go out and dig up personal stuff on democrats. Talk about desperate...and unethical. How do these f***ing losers live with themselves? Really.

In a Pivotal Year, GOP Plans to Get Personal
Millions to Go to Digging Up Dirt on Democrats

By Jim VandeHei and Chris Cillizza

Republicans are planning to spend the vast majority of their sizable financial war chest over the final 60 days of the campaign attacking Democratic House and Senate candidates over personal issues and local controversies, GOP officials said.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, which this year dispatched a half-dozen operatives to comb through tax, court and other records looking for damaging information on Democratic candidates, plans to spend more than 90 percent of its $50 million-plus advertising budget on what officials described as negative ads.

The hope is that a vigorous effort to "define" opponents, in the parlance of GOP operatives, can help Republicans shift the midterm debate away from Iraq and limit losses this fall. The first round of attacks includes an ad that labeled a Democratic candidate in Wisconsin "Dr. Millionaire" and noted that he has sued 80 patients. . . .

And we should be.....suprised? This is standard fare on both sides, the GOP just happens to be much better (read less ethical) at this type of Negative Campaign. But....you know what they say....stick with what your good at. I just hope the other side doesnt stoop to this type of attack campaign, otherwise we will never know who stands for what. Sadly, the Dems may have no choice but to join the Tit for Tat, on the bright side they will likely have a he!! of alot more ammunition.

Good points. I have never felt that the democrats were as good as republicans at this whole unethical-behavior-during-a-campaign $hit. I am certainly NOT saying that they haven't been unethical, but have you EVER seen a democrat who created a political campaign add that equated a candidate with Osama bin Laden (Max Cleland (the republicans did this)). Things like that are so appalling, I cannot fathom how republicans can live with themselves.

*Yawn* just a slight surprise, and thats not a compliment. Go to europe and look at their elections, talk about dirty and scandalous. If America had elections like that, I might be more interested.

What can I say? I love to see backstabbing politicians ring each other's necks!

And the Democrats don't? :rofl

After the 6 years of personal attacks on Republicans by the Dems and many here against Republicans you post this nonsense.

Did Rumsfield call a Democrat or insinuate a Democrat was like Hitler or the Nazi's?

Rumsfeld: Bush critics similar to Nazi appeasers
By Julian E. Barnes

Los Angeles Times

SALT LAKE CITY — Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld compared critics of the Bush administration to those who sought to appease the Nazis before World War II, warning Tuesday that the United States is confronting "a new type of fascism."

Rumsfeld, speaking before the American Legion convention, delivered some of his most explicit and extended attacks yet on the administration's critics, provoking criticism from furious Democrats who accused him of "campaigning on fear."

By comparing U.S. foreign policy with World War II and the Cold War, Rumsfeld sought to portray skeptics of Bush's foreign policy as being on the wrong side of history. Rumsfeld again ridiculed U.S. officials who, before World War II, wished to negotiate with Adolf Hitler.

"I recount that history because, once again, we face similar challenges in efforts to confront the rising threat of a new type of fascism," Rumsfeld said. "But some seem not to have learned history's lessons." . . .

I read the above as Rumsfeld claiming that dem appeasers are akin to Neville Chamberlain, not the nazis

Mudslinging sucks but defining your opponent is unethical?

The Myth of Max Cleland

"But the commercial from Cleland's Republican opponent (now senator) Saxby Chambliss did no such thing. (You can watch the actual ad here.) Over montage of four photographs, one each of bin Laden and Saddam Hussein, two others of the U.S. military, a narrator reads: "As America faces terrorists and extremist dictators, Max Cleland runs television ads claiming he has the courage to lead." That's hardly "linking him to Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden.""

The ad itself is available for download. Make up your own mind.

This myth is perpetuated by people that really wanted Kerrys henchman in office and were outraged to lose the seat.

People just do not vote for guys who are weak on home security right now.

Sure, to someone like you and me, we would know that he was not linking Cleland to SH and OBL. However, to Bubba in farmland, Texas, he's sees it otherwise. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans aren't that bright.

And he was correct in doing so.

LOL Come on, Stinger, the majority of war critics are democrats. You know what Rumsfeld was implying and what the majority of (intelligent ;)) Americans inferred.

It wasn't what you claimed, he DID NOT compare them to Hitler, period and didn't even infer it or imply it. He compare them to the appeasors of Hitler Chamberlin for instance.

That is exactly the condecending tone and mentality that keeps democrats out of office. Keep it up.

How you can watch that commercial and put terrorists in bed with a potential senator?

Not supporting the president I can buy and that by posting his voting record.

If you can prove the voting record was incorrect then I am with you in saying this was blatant mudslinging. You havent posted anything to that effect so far..

Nazi appeasers were European leaders . Not Nazis. Wrong side of the aisle. I dont think your ignorance in this case is intentional but an honest mistake anyone could make at first glance.

"Chamberlain, as even his political detractors admitted, was an honourable man, raised in the old school of European politics. His attempts to deal with Nazi Germany through diplomatic channels and to quell any sign of dissent from within, particularly from Churchill, were called by Chamberlain "The general policy of appeasement" (June 7, 1934)."
