Honestly, how did the GOP openly embrace racism? It is such idiocy. But then again, they are the 'master' race with their beer bellies and incest. This nation needs a cull.
After 1968, when a Republican won the White House by being less liberal than Humphrey, and less obviously racist than Wallace, they knew that dog whistles were the key.
Ronald Reagan’s 1976 campaign was not race based. It had its core in the rising evangelical movement, and the televangelists political emphasis.
But race baiting began to be whispered in 1980, when Reagan launched his campaign in Philadelphia Miss, the site of the brutal murder of Medgar Evers. It was a straight dog whistle to white supremacists. Reagan would go on to promote the welfare queen myth, a cherished racist trope.
By then, it was becoming more and more obvious that the GOP could not win national elections without racism. It was alway s core theme of right wing talk radio, and Fox.
Donald Trump brought it right out in the open, and the far right and the nation’s angry white mob loved him for it.
Just as they cheered at the top of their lungs when Ron DiSantis stole trump’s lowbrow crown two weeks ago.
The GOP is still dominated by banking, big oil, big pharma, and gun intersets that finance it, and the rat’s nest of right wing “think tanks”, policy shops, lobbyists and advocacy groups. They are the “men behind the curtain”./
And from behind that curtain they can wave their classic collection of bogey men; welfare moms, ANTIFA, mexicans (even if they aren’t from Mexico), the Chinese, George Soros (the current embodiment of the International Jew stereotype), and all the other stock characters. And don’t forget replacement theory.
This time last year, the GOP was putting together another tea party like fake “grass roots” campaign to flood school board meetings and get on TV, scaring the white people over critical race theory.
