Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson has died at 82, his family announced on Instagram and on his website.

“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away,” the family wrote on Wednesday. “We are at a loss for words right now.”

“Please respect our privacy at this time as our family is grieving,” the statement continued. “We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.”

I love the upbeat happy music of the Beach Boys.
I saw them in concert twice back in the 70s.
Brian Wilson wrote some memorable songs.

farewell to Brian Wilson I know many in this thread will discuss the hit songs, but I would like to bring attention to one of their lesser-known albums, Stars and Stripes Vol. 1. It's a country music album that featured country music singers covering Beach Boys songs. It was critically panned, but I enjoyed it. Here's one of my favorite songs off the album, 409, covered by Junior Brown.

Brian Wilson was a musical genius, and truly a legend. Quirky, yes, but so what?

RIP Brian Wilson. You are now at peace. God speed.

A later version.

My personal favorite is Surfer Girl.

One of Brian Wilson's greatest hits. (I remember as a young girl I used to slow dance with a broom and my California dreaming started because of this song) Pure magic.

A true masterpiece!!!! Heaven to the ears.
Their concerts never got old. Brian Wilson would have been early forties here.

Way back when! Enjoy the concert. I am fortunate to still have their (vinyl) albums.
