Props to those businesses who do not exploit the Democrats penchant for open borders

“Competitors blew past my parents like they were standing still, mostly thanks to the stream of cheap, illegal labor my parents refused to tap into.”
I wasn’t prepared for the level of rage that washed over my body as I watched this video of a roofing business owner in Florida blubbering over the detention of his illegally employed workforce.

I also wasn’t ready for the flashbacks to my childhood it gave me, and my reaction was not kind.

Democrats have no penchant for open borders.

Many (if not most) of them have expressed a desire to allow ‘undocumented’ immigrants (aka illegal aliens) to work - typically for lower wages than would allow employers to attract and retain legal workers who have more employment opportunities.

I would say Congress allows them to work and they (congress) continue to perpetuate this "open borders" nonsense with their hands off inactivity. The American people do not have a say.

The whole "open borders" thing is a white wing lie.

The people who knowingly exploit undocumented labor.... Seize their assets and throw them in jail.

Yeah .... so what? That's not the same as open borders. We've never had open borders. Not even for a single day. The phrase "open borders" is just another Republican trigger to garner votes from their core of racists, xenophobes, paranoids and terrified morons that populate their base.

I'm immersed in reality. Not sure about you.

Many seem to believe the follow idea about immigration.

But we make a mistake to draw a line too sharply separating “merely” economic migrants from refugees and asylees. Natural disasters, destitution, and decrepit political institutions can smother freedom as surely as repression and violence. And refugees are necessarily also economic migrants, who must repair their often shattered financial condition and pursue work in their new country. Differentiating between refugees and “ordinary” immigrants only incentivizes politicians and officials to cynically define the conditions of asylum ever more narrowly.

Good.

All of the people who buy landscaping services will benefit. Lower prices are always a net win.

Yeah .... so what?

That conflicts with current US immigration laws.

Democrats have no penchant for open borders.

It's one of number of clichés the right-wing throws out there. Timothy
Snyder points out the popularity of this tactic among tyrants. They are sweeping generalizations that are intended to end, not start, informed discussion.

Were all familiar with these other oldies but goodies from Trump's first term:

"Fake news"
"Deep state."
"Russia, Russia, Russia"

Some newer ones are:

"Waste, fraud and abuse."
"Obstruction of justice"
"Men are playing girls' sports"
"Leftist terrorism."

Repetition is key.

It is the business owners you should be mad at, not the government.

The government could resolve those issues the day after a law went into effect jailing owners (not HR, or managers-OWNERS) 24 hours for each undocumented worker their company is paying.

Again, so what? Paul Crider's opinion holds no sway with the preponderance of Democrats. Would you expect me to waste my time posting White Supremacist screeds, and claim that those represent the policies of the Republican Party? You know that I can.

Can you name a single Democrat holding public office in DC who actually ran on and was elected on a platform of "open borders"?? I'm curious.
Feel free to post one when you find it.

Many of the farms in my state rely heavily on seasonal workers to perform necessary labor. Oftentimes, these workers are undocumented immigrants. We need them, because there just aren't enough American citizens interested in being farm hands.

It's not only the cost of the labor, but the quality of the labor. Find me a high school graduate who wants to work the construction or the crop fields. They don't exist.

Not according to the magidiots.

Provide a reference link to any of the “many” Dem officials you claim have proposed allowing illegal migrants to work for lower wages than “legal workers”.

Cutting off the illegal labor supply is also an option. And working well.
