Going down?

None of this matters.

Look...be honest. Lets say Trump falls off the planet TOMORROW. Gone.

We all know that by Tuesday, Desantis will be the focus of the leftist idiocy and the anti-Trump morons will simply shift their mindless retarded ****ery towards him. Or Cruz. Or Hailey. Or whoever the next GOP frontrunning candidate is.

And you all know it.

This is the real calculus, so it's up to GOP voters and those independents who lean right to act in the primaries if they really don't want Trump. The question in that contest is whether DeSantis (or anyone else) can make themselves into the kind of candidate the GOP voting base would see as a suitable replacement for the former president. I don't think it will be hard for more centrist Republicans to see DeSantis that way, but the loyal Trump base is another story, because they give off "I will go down with the ship" vibes.
As a registered Republican voter for 42 years, BT, before Trump, I will not say I could never be persuaded to vote Republican again, but there is absolutely not a single solitary Republican I know of today that could even remotely persuade me to come back to the Party.

We will have to get a long way past the Trump MAGAT era for that to ever happen and for me to live to be at least 100 years old.

But you are right.

It will take Republican and Independent voters to come out in droves to reject Trump for him to lose the 2024 Election.

Why do you think the base doesn't seem to get the message?
they need an alternative cult leader
rhonda santis is showing he isn't that guy

the cult needs a new leader. who will it be?

I definitely see the tide turning and have for a while now. Not sure if it's being fed up with the drama, the pending legal woes, the continual whining, the continued losing and/or his age but Fox has been off him and his fans here, while being careful not to say too much that is negative, are moving towards DeSantis. the Iowa voters I saw interviewed sure seemed smitten with DeSantis. I think it highly likely DeSantis wins the primaries which, given his extreme right policies, is a blessing to Dems. Both Trump and DeSantis in my mind are beatable.... a moderate conservative could likely deliver them all three chambers but they are too blinded by their media influences to see that.
i believe the republicans ... NOT the cult members ... are weary of his nonsense and repulsed by tRump's association with J6

tim scott would be the obvious shoo-in hard-line republican to accept the 2024 GOP nomination

- if he wasn't black

but in 2024, that could be an advantage. especially against biden

he could displace the black vote away from the white white house incumbent

Is Sununu getting in? Larry Hogan has already declined. Would you vote for either of them? What if Colin Powell or Condoleezza Rice were still in their prime? Would you vote for either?

To me, a candidate must be law and order, therefore, must be anti-Trump.
We are ramped up with crime around the country. Biden and Law and Order are a oxymoron

Ya.... I was a real outlier back in 2015. A lone voice in the wilderness.
So, perhaps all who felt that way should take a step back with predictions. Just trying to minimize the embarrassment.

There is absolutely no doubt Trump has a very strong and loyal base. I think Trump continues to represent the unique, non-swamp, outsider millions of Americans feel is desperately needed to right a lot of what is wrong with the various goings on in this country.
you are spot on

tRump does continue to have an absolute hold on the deplorables
the losers ... ALL of them

Step away from the Fox. No crime here.

Trump. The criminal. That kind of law and order.

So, would you vote for Sununu or not?

How did you do with your 2020 predictions of a Trump Train win? It's pretty petty to criticize someone for 6 straight years of on an election prediction outcome yet you persist in the silliness.

How did you do with your 2020 predictions and a Trumo Train win?
I supported Trump. I still would vote for Trump if he is the nominee. I am still on the Trump Train. Now show me a post with my prediction about certainty. I will wait, as I may have forgot.

It is shameful if a moderate conservative could do that. It's like saying that in WWII, the allied military would have turned against the allied countries to support 'moderate Nazis', it's just Hitler was too extreme. 'Moderate conservative' is a disaster for the country, and wrong that it appeals to too many. They're still oligarchs.

Yeah, right "No crime here".
Crime is spread out everywhere. I live pretty much crime free. Somebody held up the QuickStop a few years ago. There's always something going on. Drugs in the hood, rich assholes in the mountains. Crime in both.

Point is, I look at Fox and compare it to my life. I see more crime on Fox in two segments than I've seen here my entire life. Okay, Priscilla Ford in 1979 and the Joe Conforte/Judge Claiborne connection were pretty big.

The real world isn't Fox. All you see on Fox is crime in the hood. They don't show you the crime in the mountains. Most of us live in neither.
Not everyone lives in a "no crime here" place.
Most people do.

And as far as the FOX News "town hall" is concerned, it was nothing more than an infomercial for the GOP frontrunner.

Not much has changed, since Nixon had staged 'town halls' with planted questions i 1968. You can't make it up: the staged Nixon town halls were arranged by Roger Ailes.

You know that isn't possible. It wasn't on this board .

I read the analysis and I saw a number of compelling reasons why Newsom would NOT challenge Biden’s bid for reelection.

IMO Newsom is positioning himself for 2028.
or 2024 if there is cause for joe not to receive/accept the nomination again

I can't imagine a Democrat primarying a sitting President sitting well. It's very unusual to do so no matter how much the party may not want the incumbent to run.
Agreed, and the writer notes this, but it's still early, and what 2016 and onward has taught me is that anything is possible, sigh.

Correct. That forum no longer exists, and all activity deleted as per announcement from the moderator.

But I’ll second Callen’s comments as I too was there.

Disingenuous.
