The world moves forward on climate change without the US, says the New York Times.

As usual, though, the truth is exactly the opposite of what the NYT reports. A look at what the 19 nations are actually going to do shows no interest in reducing carbon emissions. China, India, Germany and Japan are all increasing their use of coal. Russia can be counted on the skirt its committments.

In other words, this whole thing is a total farce. The G20 "climate" thing -- let alone New York Times reporting on same -- is nothing more than an international effort to bully the United States into crippling its economy while everyone else goes right ahead and uses fossil fuels exactly as they please. Whatever else you might say about President Trump, he seems to be unusually immune to this kind of bullying.

Without the U.S. in the game, all the biggest players are going to be increasing emissions, not decreasing them. In reality, the whole "global action on climate change" thing is completely dead.

The only thing left for you greenies to do is hope your doom and gloom climate scenarios are wrong. Most likely they are, thankfully.

That is about right, but luckily the technology is gaining a level that makes co2 neutral economies efficient soon. Luckily also, that we didn't jump into the inefficient technologies, when Clinton initialled Kyoto. That would have been expensive and only helped our competitors.

 wow, boasting about being left in the starting gate.

Sometimes I wonder if the Global Warming/Climate Change monster is even wounded

What do you think the US is not doing by not being part of the Paris accord?

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt dismissed European critics of President Donald Trump’s climate policies as hypocrites on Wednesday, while chastising German Chancellor Angela Merkel for phasing out her country’s nuclear power plants.
“I just think the hypocrisy runs rampant,” Pruitt said in an interview with POLITICO. “To look at us as a nation and say, ‘You all need to do more’ in light of what we’ve done in leading with innovation and technology — the hypocrisy is palpable in those areas.”. . .

Yeh, it's probably premature to phase out existing nuclear power.

it never was going anywhere.

Everyone wants everyone ElSE to sacrifice and give up things and suffer for it, while they carry on as normal.

individually, and nationally. Think Algore's giving up flying on jets? Ah, no.

Paul Matthews recently commented on the French government’s position on petrol-driven vehicles. They’re against. While 99.9% of French citizens are for. We’ll see how that plays out. I’ve finally updated the transcription of the French TV debate in which our French colleague climatosceptique Benoît Rittaud wiped the floor with one of France’s favourite environmentalists Yann … Continue reading

Bjorn Lomborg has shown conclusively that the Paris Accord is of negligible consequence.

It was never the finish line and was always the starting line

Good morning, Jack. :2wave:

What can I say except Thank You for one of the best "tongue in cheek" articles I have ever read! The writer kept me entertained and laughing from the start to the finish by using wit to describe what's going on in France with Macron apparently ready and willing to take orders from Germany's Merkel on the Paris Accord. As he states, "we'll see how that plays out." Excellent!

Not at all by any stretch of the imagination

Only by a stretch of imagination would the Paris accords have mattered to Climate. Climate changes, reality check, the Paris Accords would have had little to no effect even if every country exceeded their "goals".

You really don't see it do you?

There is no race, no starting gate and no global movement.

There are only rainbows and unicorns.

You are most welcome.
