Les Paul model knock-off Trump guitar.

Wasting no time to capitalize on his election win, the president-elect recently endorsed a new collection of Trump Guitars — a product line that has now been hit with a cease and desist from popular guitar brand Gibson. Trump initially endorsed the Trump Guitars on November 20th, posting a picture of himself holding one of the models on his social media platform Truth Social. His likeness is plastered throughout the official Trump Guitars website, the brand is listed as “the only guitar officially endorsed by President Donald J. Trump,” and Trump even signed select guitars (subsequently bringing their price up to as high as $11,500). Additionally, inline pearl letters on the necks of the guitars spell out massages like “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,” “DONALD J. TRUMP,” and “GOD BLESS THE USA.” Despite his name and face being all over the marketing, as well as the brand being called ‘Trump Guitars,’ the company is not thought to be owned directly by the president-elect himself, as the website lists the brand as being owned by a parent company called 16 Creative.

Shortly after the unveiling of Trump Guitars, many players and enthusiasts noticed a strong resemblance between the design of the American Eagle Electric Guitar model and Gibson’s recognizable Les Paul, specifically due to the shape of the body. Well, it seems that Gibson noticed the similarities too, as the brand has sent 16 Creative a cease and desist. “We can confirm a cease and desist has been issued against 16 Creative,” Gibson representatives told Guitar World. “The design infringes upon Gibson’s exclusive trademarks, particularly the iconic Les Paul body shape.” As a brand, Gibson is well-known for being quick to defend its intellectual property. Its dispute with the instrument brand Dean regarding body and headstock designs is still ongoing. As for their actual physical product, Gibson also recently partnered with US Customs and Border Protection to seize over 3,000 counterfeit guitars.

Every guitar player in the world can recognize Gibson's Les Paul model electric guitar. Much like China, Donald Trump and 16 Creative are stealing patented/copyrighted intellectual property.

Those are exactly the same! Well except for the tacky decal.

Legendary jazz/blues guitarist Les Paul (1915-2009) playing his iconic model Gibson.....

Sleepwalk - Les Paul

President elect and he's hawking guitars, how low can he go?
How about committing more felonies against the people of the United States while president?:D
Remember, this criminal ass hat has the blessing of his billionaires' bought and paid for SCOTUS to not just look the other way but make it legal!

Right on cue in my book. First and foremost, Trump is a criminal fraud. He's been ruled that in 2 civil trials (Trump U/Trump Foundation) and ordered to pay back the money he stole in committing said frauds. In the other, he was convicted on 34 felony counts of crimes committed against the citizens of New York, or American citizens. No one is safe from this criminal fraud who now has absolute power, and permission to defraud the entire country, and he will!

Myself, I didn't take to the Les Paul. Great action, tones, electronics, etc., but the body weight was just too much for 5 hour rehearsals and 3 hour shows. Add to that, the time I would have performed on it would have been in a rhythm guitar capacity because I can't hit a lick at lead. (But I rock the heck out of rhythm.) Add that, and my first performing instrument (percussion/drums) it just seemed natural that I ended up on bass the last 20 years of my musical career.

For decades, I have seen so many Les Paul, look-alike, cheap-ass knock off's that I have lost count. (Although, I do have mad respect for Epiphone's LP.) I am numb to the whole thing.

But, I will say this. This is America. If you buy something and you honestly OWN it, you can print, paint, stamp, stain, cut, carve, mark or engrave any damn thing you want on it. That doesn't mean I won't look at you like you're a dickhead, but that's your right, as far as I'm concerned.

Myself, I will just stick with the SG and my Telly.

And be cheered for it by the magatry.
@stealthycat is advocating he ban Americans from travelling to Mexico.

if Mexico doesn't stop the human trafficking do it, yes

start with tariffs, deportations ... if that doesn't wake Mexico up and stop their human trafficking, take it to another level if need be until Mexico stops the humanitarian crisis

I will not take a law to keep me from going to Mexico. I have been there too many times to count. But you could not pay me to go back there now.

I have no desire to go either

but its a billion dollar industry and the wealthy in Mexico that depend on it? Stop the flow of US $$$ with a travel ban and that'd put a serious crunch on Mexico IMO

but all they need to do is STOP human trafficking - and no tariff increases etc would need to happen

why are Democrats so in love with human trafficking?

And, in other civil litigation, he's been found guilty of money laundering through his casinos, cheating on his taxes with his properties, and has paid million$ in fine$ for those judgements.

Trump is a crook and a charlatan.

Trump is openly hawking a product as his own, that has had its trademarks/patents/copyrights ripped off.

This is Trump IP thievery. No diffferent than Chinese IP thievery.

No trumpers want to weigh in and justify this?
