Getting Old

Getting older is better than the alternative.

We've often hear of the phrase, "having lived a full life."
So yes, indeed.

An old man can look back thru all the years, even if his life has been filled with hardships - surely, there are memories that he can relish.

What do we mean by a "full" life?
It depends on each individual............................just as what happiness is, would depend on each person.

I think it is easier on woman. They have that whole material thing and lose their sex drive.

I don't think of genders.
Age-ing, is age-ing.

Just count our blessings, and make the most of it.
Whining won't change anything. 🤷

Might as well try to enjoy the ride. :)

On Aging

by Maya Angelou

When you see me sitting quietly,
Like a sack left on the shelf,
Don’t think I need your chattering.
I’m listening to myself.
Hold! Stop! Don’t pity me!
Hold! Stop your sympathy!
Understanding if you got it,
Otherwise I’ll do without it!
When my bones are stiff and aching,
And my feet won’t climb the stair,
I will only ask one favor:
Don’t bring me no rocking chair.
When you see me walking, stumbling,
Don’t study and get it wrong.
‘Cause tired don’t mean lazy
And every goodbye ain’t gone.
I’m the same person I was back then,
A little less hair, a little less chin,
A lot less lungs and much less wind.

But ain’t I lucky I can still breathe in.

I Sit Beside The Fire And Think

by RR Tolkien

I sit beside the fire and think of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies in summers that have been;
Of yellow leaves and gossamer in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun and wind upon my hair.
I sit beside the fire and think of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring there is a different green.
I sit beside the fire and think of people long ago,
and people who will see a world that I shall never know.
But all the while I sit and think of times there were before,

I listen for returning feet and voices at the door.

I think it is easier on woman. They have that whole material thing and lose their sex drive.

Because of the Christian worldview - it would be much easier on a Christian, I think.

It took me a bit to get use to the idea not being able to do everything I once could.
I will be 60 in 6 weeks, at this age you have lost considerable strength, and even more stamina... and balance.
I use to walk up a ladder carrying a sheet of OSB on my back, no hands on ladder, and walk right up it.
Yeah, no chance of that now.
But, good thing is as your body can do less, you don't particularly want to do everything you once did either. So it kind of works out.
I am in better shape than most 60 year olds, but not close to the shape I was in at 40.

you are kidding right?

To see a once beautiful women now without any at all?
To see a young strong man now need a cane to move?

aging is cruel, very very cruel
To think, everyone alive presently has the opportunity to seek forgiveness from GOD the FATHER through CHRIST with the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT, and live forever in a new regenerated body after this life is over. And never grow old again.

40 was once regarded as the old age of youth and the youth of old age... I remember being able to walk from one end of the Wildwood, NJ BOARDWALK to the other (visiting every shop) and then back again in one evening and still wonder what I'd get into next!!! Those were the days! This was one of my favorite songs and Mary Hopkins was a real cutie.

Oh my god. What a crazy post.

Maybe when we die we will get countless virgins too?

Frankly, id take a slut over a virgin.

What is anyone going to do with virgins in the next life when one will see GOD face to face? You may wish to reread your own posts before you question the craziness of others...

I think my 93 year old Daddy would disagree with you...he's in a wheelchair now but lays in his bed most of the time...he asks me often, "Why am I still here?"...
