If the AfD is a modern day Pied Piper then it can be said that the kids of Saxony and Thuringia like his tunes. 9000 kids in Saxony and Thuringia went to the polls in elections for the under 18, purely educational for the kids, but interesting as a guage of who has the kids ears. The kids gave thumbs up to the AfD.

Basically AfD is Germany's MAGA. Increasingly Germany's mainstream parties have been stone deaf to the concerns of the average German Herr on matters like immigration, crime etc. To the alarm of the average German Herr on the massive influx years ago Angela Merkel said "we will manage".

The Greens got crushed! Which is amusing given that years back it was the German Greens who championed a push for under 18 voting. The Greens saw in the under 18 a potential pool for themselves. That is before the AfD Pied Piper stepped in. Maybe the Greens are relieved they didnt enfranchise the under 18

The polls in Saxony and Thuringia is sometime next week. I dont know when

More than 9,000 young people headed to the polls in the Under-18 election before the state elections in Saxony and Thuringia, and the Alternative for Germany (AfD) crushed the competition in both votes, leaving the German political establishment reeling and issuing warnings.

The youth vote comes just days before the real vote in regional elections in Saxony and Thuringia, where the AfD is slated to win the elections with over 30 percent of the vote.

In Thuringia, the AfD scored 37.4 percent, an increase of almost 21 points compared to the 2019 youth election. The CDU gained around 7 points, jumping to 17.8 percent. The SPD scored 10.6 percent, a drop of over 3 points, and the Left Party 8.8 percent, a drop of 2.4 points.

The BSW would reach 6.9 percent from a standing start. The Greens, however, have crashed, losing a whopping 18 points and standing now at only 3.7 percent.

You seem awfully excited about the party that is just a modern incarnation of the Nazi party becoming popular.

Iran, North Korea, Russia ... brutal, authoritarian regimes get along well. Anyone supporting Russia naturally supports Nazis. They are kindred spirits.

The rise of the far-right-wing AfD is a cause for concern.

August 26, 2024

Since the end of World War II, the birthplace of Nazism has kept far-right forces out of power. A former high-school teacher who has never held political office is hoping to change that.

Björn Höcke, the firebrand head of the AfD party in the eastern German state of Thuringia, is leading ahead of a Sept. 1 regional ballot, according to an Aug. 13 survey by the INSA polling group. This puts a man who once said it was problematic to represent Hitler as “absolutely evil” in pole position to be the first postwar far-right politician to win a German state election.

Even if he doesn’t end up governing, a ballot win would make history in Germany. Crowning one of Europe’s most hard-line far-right groups would also mark an inflection point for a region where right-wing parties have found success by sanding down their ideological edges....

Thuringia is one of three eastern German states holding elections in September, out of a total of 16 states in the country. Most polls have shown the AfD leading in all three throughout the summer, with Höcke holding the biggest lead—nine points ahead of the conservative Christian Democratic Union, according to INSA....

Under 18 elections?
They have those?

This is the first time I've heard of them.

Iran, North Korea, Russia ... brutal, authoritarian regimes get along well. Anyone supporting Russia naturally supports Nazis. They are kindred spirits.

Except not only is that not true, you don’t even have to look at a history book for very long to show how hilariously false it is.

Gee, is that why the Baltic States and other countries across Eastern Europe hail Nazi collaborators as national heroes?

By the equation NSDAP = AfD … you underestimTe the real Nazis
Why? I see some disturbing parallels:

...After calling German reunification an experiment “to transform a monocultural society into a multicultural society,” he [Hocke] said: “I’m asking myself, were we ever asked if we wanted to become multicultural?…No, we weren’t, and that is why that multicultural experiment will end in Thuringia on Sept. 1.”

The AfD’s anti-immigration message could get a boost after a terrorist attack left three dead in the western city of Solingen on Friday and police later detained a Syrian suspect. Before the arrest, Höcke posted a video of the attack’s aftermath on X, asking: “Do you really want to get used to this?”...

Besides immigration, a recurrent theme has been his frustration with Germany’s culture of remembrance. In a 2017 speech about Berlin’s sprawling Holocaust memorial, he said, “We Germans are the only people in the world who’ve planted a monument of shame at the heart of their capital.” That year, he told The Wall Street Journal that “the big problem is that one presents Hitler as absolutely evil.”

In 2019, a court sided with demonstrators who had called Höcke a fascist, saying the label wasn’t defamatory but rested on “a verifiable factual basis.”...

What distinguishes Höcke in the AfD isn’t just his positions but also the breadth of his audience, said Manès Weisskircher, political scientist at the Dresden University of Technology. He appeals to right-wing intellectuals but also street protesters and civil-society groups outside the party, Weisskircher said.

In two separate trials this year, a court found Höcke guilty of twice knowingly using in speeches the phrase “Everything for Germany.” The motto was engraved on the daggers of the SA, the Nazi Party’s paramilitary wing, and is a banned Nazi slogan under German law....

Yes .... fortunately most of those under 18 year olds will grow up.

You seem awfully excited about the party that is just a modern incarnation of the Nazi party becoming popular.

When common folks turn to sobs it is because the mainstream parties are stone deaf to their concerns. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of Germany's mainstream parties

Its only for educational purposes for kids

Yeah, they're all dead now.
You support the same actions as the Nazis, solely because it's Russia doing it.

So nobody listens to racist swine, and therefore it's beerhall putsch time?

That's actually pretty disgusting, dude.

Yeah, they're all dead now.
You support the same actions as the Nazis, solely because it's Russia doing it.

The nations you support openly celebrate those who aided the Nazis as heroes, which makes the sputtering throughly meaningless.

The efforts to downplay the atrocities the Nazis committed in the name of “but Russia” remain constant.....which, gee, is probably a big part of why groups like the AfD continue to gain power and influence.

Oh, and the vast majority of the globe just flat out doesn’t agree with your claims, given just about every country outside of the American sphere of influence— and some countries in the American sphere of influence itself— has refused to support the US’ sanctions against Russia.

You support Nazi-like behavior coming from the Russians because you love Russia and hate the United States.

Why don't you move there? You'd be happier. I mean, until you got used up in a meat wave...But hey, here for a good time, not for a long time.

And many in the West openly admire the Nazis and their collaborators because they did what they did against Russia. Which is a big part of why the AfD is having such apparent success.

Which makes claims of “Nazi like behavior” totally and utterly worthless.

For a country that supposedly prides itself on freedom of speech Americans sure get triggered when someone points out facts they don’t like hearing

I also find defense for Ukrainian Nazis disgusting as well

Who does this? Provide examples of the "many Westerners". Be specific about who they are and where they live, what they have said, when they have said it....Copies and pastes of excerpts from credible sources to which you post the links.

I haven't seen this kind of anti-Soviet Union, pro-Nazi Germany sentiment you claim is so prevalent.
Which makes claims of “Nazi like behavior” totally and utterly worthless.
Nah, it doesn't.
For a country that supposedly prides itself on freedom of speech Americans sure get triggered when someone points out facts they don’t like hearing
So what?

The nations you support openly celebrate those who aided the Nazis as heroes, which makes the sputtering throughly meaningless.
You might believe this is so, but you have to prove it's true. And you haven't, so far.
The efforts to downplay the atrocities the Nazis committed in the name of “but Russia” remain constant.....which, gee, is probably a big part of why groups like the AfD continue to gain power and influence.
As I've already asked, provide names, countries, quotes etc - copies and pastes of excerpts from credible sources (and links to them). Good luck. I'm interested to see this anti-Soviet Union/Russia, pro-Nazi/rabid-right-wing sentiment you are talking about.
That there's no universal participation in sanctions doesn't mean putin had and has a right to invade, occupy, destroy, brutalize an independent nation (and to kidnap its children).

You love Russia and hate America. You should go there.
