Fabian Schmidt was arrested and interrogated at the Boston airport, according to his mother and partner. They say they don't know why he is being held in an ICE facility

U.S. immigration authorities arrested and interrogated a German national who is a legal permanent U.S. resident at Boston Logan International Airport on March 7, according to the man’s mother and his partner. Days later, he was transferred to a federal detention facility.

Fabian Schmidt, 34, is now being held at the Wyatt Detention Center in Central Falls, Rhode Island, according to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement online database. ICE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Is ICE being overly aggressive because they didn't meet their quota?

A green card holder?

Well, then.

I think this one is more than questionable..it doesn't hold water. See other thread

Probably has something to do with the fact that Germany is making noises about seeing if Europe can become less dependent on the United States of America (and that means not buying military gear that the US government can seriously degrade instantly).

What is questionable?
The entire story as told by his relatives doesn't pass the smell test to me. Where are witness ,reports etc.

Here he is...

Fabian Schmidt smiling

"Astrid Senior, Schmidt’s mother, said she and her son moved to the U.S. from Germany in 2007 and received green cards in 2008. He lives in New Hampshire and renewed his legal permanent resident status last year, she said.

Senior said she has no idea why her son is being detained by U.S. immigration officials. She said her son, who once lived in California, faced misdemeanor charges roughly a decade ago. He has no active legal or court issues, Senior said.

“I feel helpless. Absolutely helpless,” Senior said."

I don’t think that it is in dispute that he was detained and interrogated for no reason.

Green card holders are an easy target because until now they had nothing to fear… but now they do.

They only thing they should fear is due process. Doesn't sound like some are getting it.

This is the article on the other thread that causes me to think there is something questionable

People get in trouble answering a lot of questions. If they want to interrogate you the only word you should say is "lawyer."

Schmidt is not a violent criminal, or a terrorist, or drug dealer. He got busted for a small amount of marijuana in his car in 2015, which is about as serious as getting a speeding ticket. And he's got legal permanent residence.

There is no justification whatsoever for detaining him, and he's not the only one discussing draconian treatment by ICE. Keep in mind that a lot of detainees have been blocked from communicating with anyone, including family or lawyers; others may not want to rock the boat because their status is less secure or they don't want to get deported for speaking out.

I.e. in case about 200+ years of history haven't made it clear, law enforcement aren't always super nice when no one is watching them, and they have no fear of being held accountable for their actions.

It just seems to me someone would have noticed this and reported, intervened or come forward. I am not one who takes what I read as gospel even when it appeals to my biases. This just doesn't pass the smell test for me without further information. The treatment is way too extreme for a routine detainment.

"Senior described Schmidt being “violently interrogated” at Logan Airport for hours, and being stripped naked, put in a cold shower by two officials, and being put back onto a chair.

She said Schmidt told her immigration agents pressured him to give up his green card. She said he was placed on a mat in a bright room with other people at the airport, with little food or water, suffered sleep deprivation, and was denied access to his medication for anxiety and depression.

“He hardly got anything to drink. And then he wasn’t feeling very well and he collapsed,”

In detention, or erased.

How does one find them? What might they have seen? Be serious.
I'm being dead serious. The story as told by the mother doesn't sit well with me. This inparticular ". She said he was placed on a mat in a bright room with other people at the airport, with little food or water, suffered sleep deprivation, and was denied access to his medication for anxiety and depression." What other people? Were multiple people detained?

It may all be true but , based on the article in the first thread, I'm not ready to buy into. Perhaps the court hearing will produce more info.

Where are the documents and identifications of the more than 250 immigrants that ICE flew to a notorious mega-prison in El Salvador? El Salvador’s dictator President Nayib Bukele claimed that two of the prisoners are high-level members of MS-13. Are they? Will anyone know who these 250 men are or if they have been convicted of any crimes? Nayib Bukele murdered 3,000 Salvadoran men, just made them disappear into thin air. Bukele will be happy to do the same with any men that ICE sends them, as long as the U.S. pays him plenty of money via bitcoin. Bukele said, 'send all you want, just pay us for them'.

What does the administration say?

I'm not going to waste any more time trying to justify my healthy skepticism regarding some of the reporting around this incident. I'm quite certain he was detained but the circumstances seem unclear to me. Nothing anymore complicated than that. I'm as anti this Administration and their tactics as anyone but I refuse to become like the Trumpers I critize openly and often for buying whatever appeals to their political biases without questioning. This one just isn't adding up for me.....yet.

I'm just wondering if the administration withholding information about their deportations has given you a healthy skepticism of their actions.
