Hi! I’ve been a loyal subscriber to DP for several years. I love the social media features of this site and how the subforums are organized and moderated. However, over time, mobile devices have really taken over the technological space. No doubt people still use PCs but for many, including myself, I’m on my iPhone hours per day (ashamed to admit) versus logging into my PC maybe once or twice a month.

The full site is leaps and bounds better than the Tapatalk app. I’ve tried using this app multiple times but it has neither the unique and colorful look-and-feel of the full site nor the same interactive features. For instance, I have still not figured out to turn on my notifications IN the app. It will say 0 comments, likes, etc. received when in fact there is a lot of activity going on. It’s been so frustrating that I gave up using the app and now just access the full site via my iphone’s browser. This also is not very user-friendly, especially given the setting that forces you to log out after a certain time period due to “inactivity”. I write long posts sometimes and take time to edit them. When I’m done and click submit, the page redirects me to: “You’ve been logged out due to inactivity.” If I forget to select and copy the text before submitting, I lose all my work. I’ve complained about this issue before and I was told it can be fixed by adjusting your settings. I’ve tried that and I’m still getting logged out automatically.

To summarize, it’s getting harder and harder to debate via Debatepolitics.com because of the changing technological times and lack of usability with the Tapatalk app. I’ve met many womderful people on this site and want to continue using DP and supporting this site but the technical challenges are growing. Does the DP team have any plans to overhaul the app or make other improvements? Any suggestions to resolve the issues I’m having?

Thanks,
Mensch

DP doesnt run tapatalk its just a general forum app and its junk.

I post from my phone often and just use the full site. Also yes its in the settings to stay logged in and Ive never gotten the “You’ve been logged out due to inactivity" either on my android or iphone

Hi Mensch,

So I don't think there's currently plans to do such. Tapatalk is a third party forum app that we don't actually have any control over in terms of development. A reason we went with tapatalk in the first place was because they already had the infrastructure in place to easily present a forum in a "mobile" interface with minimal work needing to be done by our staff. Our admins who deal with the technical side and development of the site is very small, with very limited time, so I don't see creating a custom DP mobile interface as a very likely action in the near term.

Thanks. I figured as much. To refresh my memory, all I have to do is click the “Remember Me” button before logging in to avoid getting logged out due to inactivity...or am I forgetting something?

That should do it.

The default mobile style in the selector bottom left doesnt show your notification either. For a day or two I didnt think anyone was responding, only your full site shows any notifications
