Maybe the tabloids wil give him some peace now! Great talent!
No word yet on what happened. I'm wondering if it was carbon monoxide poisoning.Rest peacefully Gene Hackman. I heard his wife and dog are gone along with him, RIP.
My first thought was mutually agreed to murder/suicide, but your guess may be true, we should know soon.No word yet on what happened. I'm wondering if it was carbon monoxide poisoning.
My favourite Hackman role was "Get Shorty". But there were so many I'll watch again - The Firm, Absolute Power, Mississippi Burning, Class Action. So many roles, so much excellent acting, so many favorite characters. What a career.
One of my all-time favorite rolls that I haven’t seen mentioned in the articles and stories was that of Rankin Fitch, jury manipulator in “Runaway Jury.” To me, one of the marks of a truly great actor is when they not only can successfully accomplish playing likable characters the audience roots for, but also the despicable characters we root against. Or characters that represent very flawed people.
That was Gene Hackman.
Per mister google. This is a screen shot of the grainy video when they were announcing the best actor award in 1972. I get Liza Minnelli and Gene and Walter Matthau. anyone get a clue on the other two?

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — Oscar-winner Gene Hackman, his wife and one of their dogs were apparently dead for some time before a maintenance worker discovered their bodies at the couple’s Santa Fe home, according to investigators.
Hackman, 95, was found dead Wednesday in a mudroom and his 63-year-old wife, Betsy Arakawa, was found in a bathroom next to a space heater, Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office detectives wrote in a search warrant. There was an open prescription bottle and pills scattered on a countertop near Arakawa.
The New Mexico Gas Co. tested the gas lines in and around the home after the bodies were discovered, according to the warrant. At the time, it didn’t find any signs of problems and the Fire Department found no signs of a carbon monoxide leak or poisoning.
Hackman appeared to have fallen, a deputy observed. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, gray sweatpants and slippers. A pair of sunglasses and a cane were nearby.
A dead German shepherd was found in a bathroom closet near Arakawa, police said. Two healthy dogs were found on the property — one inside and one outside.
I'm reading stuff now about pills and mummification.
At this point it doesn't even make sense to speculate. We'll just have to wait until Hollywood gives us the official "real" story.
I remember my first view of him in Bonnie and Clyde, as Clyde’s brother and the sadness of his death scene, which was more or less true to life. And who can forget Popeye Doyle in the French Connection? My favourite Hackman role was "Get Shorty". But there were so many I'll watch again - The Firm, Absolute Power, Mississippi Burning, Class Action.
