Gay conversion brainwashing

I know a little about this. It's been attempted for decades, started sometime in the 50s or 60s.

One of the rules therapists are supposed to live by is 'do no harm'.

Conversion therapy is way too close to brainwashing to qualify.

Not why I am writing this post. Because we have this track record, we have some history as to outcomes. It's a sad situation when your failures have better lives than your successes. The 'converted' live lives of quiet misery.

This needs to be outlawed.
 

Who are you to tell someone what kind of therapy they can and can't receive?

Conversion therapy for minors should be outlawed. For adults, if someone wants to go through that kind of process, let them.
 

apparently doesnt work on many but works on some. im not a fan but worked on my neighbors kid. he now plays football and drives around town.

nothing wrong with being gay though i guess he just wanted a change.

And who are you to tell someone else what therapy they can get for their child? It's really none of your business.

It doesn't matter if the child wants it or not, or if the parents consent to it. Gay conversion therapy constitutes on minors constitutes as child abuse, in many cases.

I said I thought it should be illegal. Causing harm is often illegal. Know what I mean?

I will say that, just for your information, gay people still play football and "drive around town."

Your neighbor's kid is still gay. He's just saying what his parents want to hear.

Society gets to step in when those "therapy" practices bring harm to the child. Conversion therapy is a form of abuse, and no child should have to be subjected to that kind of "treatment".

hes actually not gay though. he identifies as straight and has had girlfriends! also a very bright young man.

....So if you're gay, can you somehow not able to play football, or operate a motorized vehicle? There are plenty of gay athletes out there. And I can drive a car just fine.
 

you dont know this young man. hes the one claiming hes straight. hes had girlfriends and attends parties. great kid whether or not hes gay or straight. he just happens to be straight because of the youth conversion camp.

He's had girlfriends. He plays football. He drives around town. He attends parties. He's a great kid.

You can't go to conversion camp and change your sexuality.

If you went to conversion camp, would it make you gay? Because that's exactly what you are saying happened with your neighbor's gay kid.

Yeah, I used to tell people I was straight, too. That's what being in the closet is like: denial.

he was not in the closet as a child. he was gay (and still a great child!)
 

yes one could go to a conversion camp and be gay. all about the teaching techniques i suppose. just how counseling works

Your anecdotal story does not change the fact that all of the "methods" to convert people's sexuality, does not work.

You have an anecdotal story? I have a pile of evidence that shows that gay conversion therapy does not work. At all. There are harmful practices disguised as medical, but all they cause is pain.

And do you know that gay people can go back in the closet, and act like they're "straight"? They're still gay. But whatever, he could be in denial, or he could be bisexual.
